Transportation to HDDR

I read, on another post, that you can take a direct bus from your resort to FW after 4:00 pm. If it is true, does that bus take you directly to HDDR or do you still have to catch the internal bus? I am asking for a friend. We are staying at FW, they are not.

with the exception of Wilderness Lodge, there is no direct bus from resorts to Fort Wilderness. it is after the late show or shows that there are buses to the resorts. easiest way to HDDR is to get to MK and boat to the Fort. allow at least 45 minutes from MK to HDDR. that leaves you time to just miss the boat and wait for next one.it is a short walk from the boat dock to HDDR. if you take bus from another park allow time for internal bus as it is about a mile to walk from bus stop to HDDR. there is no car parking at HDDR and that includes handicapped. if driving you park at front like busing and take the internal bus

OP the post that you cited was incorrect. As the PP noted, the only resort to resort bus that does this is from WL. From any other resort the fastest way to HDDR is to bus to MK and boat to Ft. W. From any park (other than MK) you would take a Ft. W bus and then transfer to the internal bus.

Perhaps you misread the post. There IS bus transpo FROM HDDR to the resorts after the last 2 shows.

After the 6:15 and 8:30 shows?! I never knew this. That is good to know. Although, we usually don't go right back to our resort after the 6:15 show, but just in case.

I didn't think that there was a bus that went directly to FW. But this is the exact post that I saw on another thread: "NOTE2: A quickie about transportation. You can take a direct bus from most resorts after
approx 4:00pm. Due to HDDR and Campfire, they run direct busses. You can also take the boat from either Contemporary Resort or Magic Kingdom. Ride makes a really nice start to the evening. On the way back to the resort, take the boat to MK and then the bus, as direct buses to the resort are not available. If really in a hurry, take the internal bus to the Outpost and a taxi to your resort."

This is where I got confused. I was just trying to make it easier on my brother and his family. They are actually driving, so I will probably tell him to drive to FW and catch the internal bus. Might be easier in the long run.

I saw this post as well. It is the exact opposite of my personal experience.
There were no resort to resort buses TO HDDR and there were resort to resort buses FROM HDDR

just remember if you drive you need the internal bus to and from HDDR, since we have only stayed at campground not sure how the buses to resorts after late shows affect the internal buses but that could cause delays back to your car as car is parked at front of campground about a mile away from where you are
