Transportation to/from Universal Orlando: A first timer's question

Thanks to this thread, I canceled the star shuttle we'd originally scheduled (boy oh boy, was that ever a hassle) and booked with Mr. Hinds instead. He seemed very nice, and I'm pleased we'll be able to make a quick grocery stop on the way in.

you will be thrilled with the service you get from Tony.
be sure to tell him macraven said hi...

he will stop at any grocery store you wish and if something can't be found at that store that you need, if he doesn't have another pick up right away, he would do a second stop for you.

no extra charge.
he is a gem!

i know peeps like to save money, i know i do
but, the time involved with shuttles and star shuttles, do take more time.
it is not just one family in the shuttle and a direct drive to your hotel to drop you off.
it involves in waiting for the other fares that signed up for it and drop offs to various hotels.

once in a blue moon you might get lucky and be the only riders in the shuttle.
not worth a chance to take if you want to get to the hotel asap.

saving money is always sweet but there can't be a price put on your time.

I use and recommend Tony Hinds transportation company

If you need his info let me know and I'll post it

You can also use the star shuttle, taxi, etc
We've had a great time with Tony as well. Excellent prices and service.

I'm just curious why renting a car yourself wouldn't work and be a lot less money. Use priceline. Name a low price. Get car.

Hey, all!

I'm surprising my wife with a trip to Universal in September and I'm looking for the best price on safe, reliable transportation from MCO to Universal (specifically, Sapphire Falls) and from Universal to MCO.

I know Universal offers a shuttle for $70 round-trip for two, and that's the best price I've been able to find so far. The next lowest is $90 before tip, but most hover around $120 before tip. I can't keep track of all the names of the services I've received quotes from, but they range from Mears and taxi services, to Uber and Lyft.

Which service do you recommend? Are there any coupons/promos/specials I should keep an eye out for?

Thanks! I'm so excited for this trip. Mostly because I'm terrible at keeping secrets but I'm doing pretty good with this one (so far)!

Have a car onsite and have parking fees
Deluxe costs 22$ a day while the value at Cbay is less

Add up parking fees, tolls, gas and car rental and private car service could be cheaper

We had a rental car booked but decided to cancel. We went with Tony instead from the great recommendations here by Macraven. Then I thought about how we were going to get to MK for the MVMCP, and now booked Tony for that too. My husband was relieved he wouldn't have to drive, as we are terrible at navigating (even with a gps), and not have to pay to park the car everyday, even though we may only use it a couple of times during the week. This is saving us quite a bit as we have to pay exchange rates being from Canada. The car rental alone (mini van) was almost $300 U.S. And then $22 US. a night parking. When we want to go shopping we will just call Uber or reg taxi.

Parking alone would be $110 before tax.

Even if I got a rental car for free I'd be spending more on parking that I would on a private driver.
