Transportation time from AK to MCO

We are toying with the idea of renting a car for our 2/2 - 2/9 stay at the World. We will definitely have to get a cab at least one of these days (early morning tour for DH, YES class for DS and I); plus we would like to tour the boardwalk area without catching 2 modes of transportation, we would be more likely to go to DTD if we didn't have to take a bus, and we would potentially like to take DS to the ocean one day of our trip.

My question to you all is - how long should we plan for transportation from AK to MCO? Our flight departs at 8:55PM. What time should we leave AK?

The drive from WDW to MCO is right about 30 minutes. Add time to gas the car and return it at the airport and you're looking at 45 minutes. Then you have to get through security, etc so figure on leaving ~2.5 hours before your flight.
