This will be our first trip. We are setting aside 2 days to attempt to collect all of the pressed pennies at the resorts. We will have our own vehicle, but DH would prefer to use wdw transportation if possible. I know that buses do not go from resort to resort, and that making the necessary transfers is going to take longer than if we just drove ourselves.

My questions:

1. Are the All-Stars within walking distance of each other?

2. On the Epcot end, do you get on the monorail inside or outside of the park?

3. Can you walk from AK to AKL?

4. Which resorts can you get to by boat from MK?

If there is other information you feel I should know, or if you have suggestions, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you :)

Yes the All Stars are within walking distance of each other, you would not follow the main road (Buena Vista) but rather cut through the parking lots.

ALso most ALl Star buses go from Sports to Music to Movies. You could ask a driver if he is going to the next All Star and to drop you off there.

The monorail boards outside Epcot, you don't need to use your park pass, but if you wanted to get from resorts near Epcot such as Beach Club to the monorail, you have to cut through Epcot using your park pass (or take the bus).

Animal Kingdom to Animal Kingdom Lodge is not walking distance and also there are no sidewalks.

You can take a boat from GF, Polynesian, Contemporary, WL and Fort Wilderness to the MK.

Just to clarify, there are no busses to/from the Epcot resorts and the front of Epcot.

That rather depends on your definition of walking distance. I believe that AK and AKL are less than a mile apart from each other, however, seashoreCM is correct that there are no sidewalks, so walking is probably not advised, but it COULD be done.

IMHO the most difficult aspect of WDW transportation is resort to resort.

I think if you are planning a day of "pressed penny" collecting at the resorts it can get old real fast. Intead I would try and plan to visit a few of the resorts while at the corresponding park or for dinner etc. You could visit them in groups but not necessarily all in the same day. For example all of the MK resorts are linked via monorail so visit them on your MK day.

All of the Epcot resorts are linked via bus and you can also walk them easily. This is a nice place to visit on your off park evening as you can eat in many great places and see Illuminiations from the Boardwalk.

Fort Wilderness is also a great place for a non park day - again I would drive and spend some time there. In addition to getting pennies you can see the petting zoo, some evenings there are movies and a hayride etc.

For the All Stars I would probably drive although you can walk and AKL is another place to have a great dinner and spend some time exploring the resort. My dd's still talk about the storytelling!

The moderates are the most difficult and IMHO you would be best off driving. Otherwise you would have to take a bus to a major park and transfer to a moderate bus, then back to a park and to another moderate, etc.

Perhaps I misunderstood your OP but I don't think my family would enjoy a day of just running from resort to resort to collect pennies. Instead why not plan some activites on your off day and see what machines you come accross in doing so.

Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions tjmw2727. :)

We're going in Dec., so we'll be seeing the different decorations at the resorts too, like the carousel & gingerbread house. I know it probably sounds silly, but DH & DD decided that they would like to try to collect all of the pressed pennies in wdw. I know that it won't be possible to actually get all of them, but they'll have fun trying. If it does get tiring, we can always quit & do something else.
