Hello :)

So, Doug and I are getting married at the WP next May. 95% of our guests are staying on property, with the exception of his parents, brother and brother's girlfriend. (We've tried explaining the benefits of staying on property, but...whatever :confused3) Complicating this is that Doug's mom has MS and usually uses a wheelchair for being out and about in public. I'm not sure if she's going to use the electric or the push one. I spoke to our planner Vita about it, and she said there is a wheelchair-friendly charter rental that we could rent... for a minimum of five hours, at around $90 an hour (if I remember correctly).

Any thoughts or suggestions? I mean, if she's fine with using the push-chair (which would be ideal), that can just be folded up into the limo. But if it's the electric, I'm curious as to what the options would be.

Thanks! :goodvibes

If it's $90/hour for a 5-hour-minimum charter, it is probably a 25-passenger minibus—which is actually a few bucks cheaper per hour than a limo and holds 3 times as many people. (However, a limo has only a 3-hour minimum.)

I don't know how many guests you are expecting, but the reason you might want to consider providing transportation for all or most of them—even though 95% are staying on property—is that Disney's free transportation for hotel guests does not go directly between resorts. This means that your guests will have to change from a bus to another bus/the monorail/a boat at a theme park or Downtown Disney in order to get from their resort to the Wedding Pavilion or any other resort wedding venue that's not, you know, at their resort. This can take an hour or more (if the monorail breaks down, for example), and for the uninitiated it can be pretty daunting.

Now if your guests are all WDW vets and/or are renting cars, this won't be an issue. :thumbsup2

We're having an Escape wedding, and right now, we're looking at 17 guests. We planned on using the limo as transportation for everyone since there won't be any other time that we would need to use it anyways. I just found the original email (yay! I thought it was lost) - it'd be $68.25 for the chartered wheelchair van for a minimum of three hours, which holds two wheelchairs and three passengers (so I'm assuming this would work also as one wc/four passengers?) Is the minibus wheelchair-friendly? That would be perfect if it was; just two stops (most likely) and everyone in one fell swoop!

And thinking about it, of all our guests, only two have been there before, when they were teenagers. Goodness, I really need to make a newsletter of sorts! ;)

Thanks for the reply!

A-ha! So that's a different case. Your planner can tell you the specs of the minibus, but I'm thinking that what has already been quoted to you may be the only option that's wheelchair-friendly. Still, it never hurts to check!

Otherwise, with that small a guest list and the limo included in the price of the Escape package, it sounds like your idea to use the limo for guests is the most economical one. :thumbsup2
