Transportation question

Is there anywhere in WDW where you can rent a car? We stayed at VWL in May. We went to Seaworld one day and it was a $60 cab ride. I would have been cheaper to rent a car. I saw some kind of AAA building by the Hess station as you leave the MK area. Do they rent cars? If not there, do rental companies bring you a car?

I think I read once that rental cars are available at the Dolphin Resort.

National has a site near the Dophin. We sometimes turn a car in after a few days and pick it up again near the end of our trip.

Dolphin and by the Ticket and Transport center they have a Car care center as well both National and maybe Alamo now .

If you rent from the Car Care Center, they will come to your hotel and pick you up.

I know that the Wyndham in DTD (or whatever the Wyndham is called these days) has an Alamo rental location. For our upcoming Oct trip, we are renting from Alamo at MCO then returing at the Wyndham a day later (since we get in late, we are hoteling it for day 1, and figured the 1-day rental car would be cheaper than a taxi and would allow us a convenient grocery trip).

And the nice thing is that it is across the street from SSR, so I can drop the car off and walk back.

Yes, the Dophin is Alamo AND National.

My DH and I are going in Aug and we wanted to rent a car for a day and MS told me to just mention it to the front desk the day before and we can rent from the car center and that they would take us there.

You can rent National/Alamo on property. I know the Swan/Dolphin has a rental desk, but you can also make your own reservations through the rental company and just say you want to rent at the WDW Car Care Center. We rented there and they actually came to Animal Kingdom to pick us up at the end of the day so we could pick up our car. It was very convenient. Then if you return it there, they will take you back to your resort after you drop the car off. I don't believe there are any other car rental companies other than National/Alamo on property.

That's perfect. Thanks everyone. I did ask a CM once and got this weird look. I do believe that mears ripped me off last time, but we were tired from a long day at Seaworld and just want to get to our resort pool. Thanks again for everything.
