Transportation options from SNA: good, bad, ugly?

Did a quick search, and didn’t see anything on this (if I missed it my apologies).

My family and I will be back to Disneyland in early November, and I wanted to get a feel for transportation options from Orange County John Wayne airport.

What worked well? Anything we should steer clear of? Anything ugly we should watch out for when reserving transportation ?

Really appreciate y’alls opions on this.

We take a taxi every time and have never had a problem. I think it’s $40-ish with tip one way. Used to do shuttles but will never do that again after someone who got off before me took my suitcase by accident. A lot of people like Uber or Lyft but I don’t use those services so cant speak to that.

We also do taxis. As PP above said price is about $40 plus tip. I also don't use Uber or Lyft. I'm sure they are much cheaper, but I like to get off the plane and right into a taxi.

I tried Uber last time but it stated it was a 30 min wait. We took a taxi. They’re right there waiting and clean.

Agree that taxi's are very easy at SNA. Uber/lyft would also be easy and probably cheaper.

If you have any need for a car, we have been able to get a rental at SNA for $60 for 4 days.

My rankings:

The Good: Uber/Lyft. Cheap and usually readily available
The Bad: Taxi...they are readily there on standby but it is still a taxi and a bit more expensive
The Ugly: Supper Shuttle. While it may be an economical option, there is the very real possibility of being crammed in a van full of strangers and multiple stops before your destination.

There is also the Disneyland Express...but unless you have little ones that need a car seat (DLE no seat required but above options do), no need to wait around for their bus schedule since you are so close to DL and other options are more convenient.

We usually get in past 8pm, so we take an uber and have never waited more than 5 minutes. We have 3 kids under 6 and have to install car seats, and all the drivers have been super nice about it. For an uber XL (minivan) it's usually been $30.

Taxi....they are right there and you get direct service to your hotel. Last time we took a shuttle and while cheap ($11/pp) it took forever with multiple stops before we finally were let off....(the last ones....boo!) Taxi is your best bet!

Done car service, super shuttle and Uber. Uber wins it every time, that's all we'll do now. Five minutes for pickup, a private car straight to the hotel, service with a smile. The last one even stopped at CVS for us so DH could run in and just pick up a case of bottled water. Of course we tipped well.

The first time we used it, the ride was essentially free with the "first ride free" deal.

Uber is about a third of the price of a taxi and we haven’t had an issue once. It’s our only way from SNA unless we have a car.

My favorite option is now Lyft or Uber. It's not only the cheapest option, but fast! However, we don't need a carseat or oversized vehicle- an UberXL costs more.

We have always used Super Shuttle which has always worked for us, affordable (+AAA Discount), reliable and never had an issue.

Not the OP, but thanks for the reassurance on Uber/Lyft. Never flown into SNA before, but will be in 2.5 weeks. Was wondering and got concerned over whether Uber/Lyft options would be more limited, especially if arriving in the evening, given it's a smaller airport. Very helpful!

Uber is all over the resort and airport area at all hours of the day and night. Always lots of drivers out.
