Transportation - MAJOR issue all of a sudden - Help!

Just wanted to point out our point of view - we actually had a rental car last year, but parked it the entire week long trip b/c we enjoyed not having to drive and fight traffic, find parking, etc. We did some dinners at Resorts, and it worked out just fine to go to a park and transfer - just allow about an hour and you'll be fine. You'll get the hang of it. I guess we just had a go with the flow relaxed type outlook on it and were glad not to have to drive (especially if it meant we could enjoy some drinks w/ dinner!!) :sunny: :flower:

Thank you for sharing that :)

We often like to be relaxed and go with the flow, too. Unfortunately, our kids have a different agenda ;). Sometimes it can be difficult when your kids are really hungry and hot and tired and you just want to sit down and eat in a cool restaurant. :flower: So, we've learned it's best (for us) to pick something out ahead of time and go ahead and make the ARs - then if we change our minds we can usually just cancel them the day of or the night before :)

But, I've adjusted our itinerary and I think we'll forgo some of the resort meals this trip. I'm certain we won't be hard pressed to find decent food onsite in the parks :)

>>So, the busses don't run longer for the special events? (Like MNSSHP?)

I didn't see this addressed but yes they do - they will run til long after the event ends - you will be long back to your hotel and in bed most likely. And I would definitely recommend using that transportation -- its so much more convenient to bus to MK than to take a car to the TTC and transfer (in my opinion).

I was skimming thru this thread so pardon me if this was already mentioned.

When you asked if the buses go directly from the park to All-Star Sports, you are actually lucky that ASsp is the first stop, but just know that sometimes "ALL" of the All-Star resorts share buses. Sports just happens to be the first pickup and first dropoff on the routes.

We stayed at All-star Movies and if we were leaving the resort to go to another resort, we would usually just take a bus to AK then from there to the other resort. AK isn't far at all from the All-stars.

And yet another thought....we try to plan our breakfasts to be as close to our 'morning' park as we can. We'll eat either in MK or at the CR if we plan on being in MK that morning. For MGM, we usually try to eat at our resort. And I have to say that we found the food courts at the AllStars to be pretty good. Just try to get there early, before the big crowds in the morning. Or send one person to buy it and bring it back to your room while others are getting ready.

You can spend too much time getting from one area of WDW for food and then trying to get to the other side to go to a park. Try not to jump around too much. The bus system is very good but it does have it's weaknesses. And that would be going to a different resort than your own.

It was pretty crowded when we were there and we never had a problem getting breakfast in the mornings at the food court at ASmo. Of course we were up kinda early and usually some of the first in line at the bus stops in the morning.

The food at the resorts, especially breakfast, is pretty good and even if you went somewhere else, you'd end up with pretty much the same selections of food (maybe a little more limited than at the food courts). And those Chocolate Croissants... sooooo good!

Go, enjoy, and don't stress it too much.

As just about everyone else has already told you.....don't worry!!!! Once you figure it out you will find Disney tranportation very easy and pretty darn good...especially considering how many people they move each day.
The best idea (already suggested) is if you want to eat at any resort just plan on the closest theme park for that day or that part of the day. So for the Contemporary, Poly or Grand Floridian be at the MK so you can either monorail, boat or walk.
For the Epcot resorts (this includes Spoodles) plan on either Epcot or the Disney Studios. From Epcot you can use the International Gateway and either walk or boat to the Beach/Yacht clubs, Boardwalk, and Swan/Dolphin.
You can also get to this area from the Studios by walking, but it is a much longer walk, especially with children. The Friendship boats run througout the day from the International Gateway to the Studios stopping at all the Epcot resorts along the way. It is a slow but very relaxing ride.

Enjoy!!!!!!
