Transportation into Paris from DLP

We are heading to DLP in late May. While there we want to spend a day (or two) in Paris seeing the sights. Can we get a travel card from the train station and get on and off within Paris like in the London Underground (sorry if this is a dumb question, lived in UK for a few years, but been back in US for almost 15 and can't remember how it all works). We want to see the main Parisian sights like the Louvre and the Eiffel tower, but possibly Versailles as well. Thanks in advance for any help!
