Transportation in WDW

I have a question about the transportation while on Disney property. Our off site hotel offers free shuttles and lets us off wherever we want. But, once we are off, let's say at Magic Kingdom, and we want to get to Downtown, or Epcot or wherever, are there monorails or shuttles we can use? How far is Downtown Disney from the maingate and is that the same thing as the Boardwalk? Thanks!

Once you are dropped off you can use busses to get back and forth between all of the parks and downtown disney. From the MK you can take the monorail to epcot. I believe that transportation is supposed to be for guests with multiday passes only. Downtown Disney is not the same as the boardwalk. DTD had the marketplace, Cirque de Soleil, pleasure island, and the lego area for the kids. The BW has restaurunts like the ESPN club and Spoodles. You would have to take a resort bus to get to the BW.
