Last year, a group of us stayed at Amerisuites because some of the families were large, like yours. It was very nice, clean and our room had 2 double beds and a double pull out sofa. They have a free shuttle to and from MCO unfortunately my nephew and I got in after midnight and they stopped running by then. Had to use a cab which was plain awful!! They also have free breakfast in the lobby in the morning. That was really helpful and was pretty decent!! Cereals, toast, even eggs I think. Can't really remember as it was early, hadn't had any coffee, and because of the late flight and taxi fiasco, my nephew and I didn't get to bed until after 3am.
Two years ago, our family - 5 adults, 4 kids - were going on our first
DCL cruise. We decided to stay at the Hyatt in the airport the night before and have a car service take us to the port the next morning. We thought about renting a van, but no one really wanted to drive and it seemed so much easier just to have someone pick us up and drop us off. No car rental pickups, returns, etc. Though some prefer renting, it wasn't for us.
For 6 of you, I'm pretty sure it is cheaper to use a towncar service than DCL transportation. I highly recommend Sunray Transportation. You can also get to the port earlier, allowing you to get in line earlier, and on the ship earlier, if that appeals to you. Last year, our group was large enough we could hire a small bus to get to the cruise, then we all found our own way back after the cruise. I went with Sunray for my nephew and I because I have found them dependable and safe. They also provide carseats if any of the kids are that young.
If you want, you can read about my cruises and Sunray experiences on my website. Hope this helps!
Cheers!
