What is the easiest and most economical means of traveling from a WDW Resort to Universal Studios? Note: I will not be renting a car.

Thanks,

There really isn't one. Mears has a shuttle, google Mears Orlando and you can find rates and also a fare estimator if you want to take a regular taxi. There is a banner in this forum offering a 1 day 2 park ticket plus transportation to/from WDW for $110 per person.

I took a van taxi yesterday from the Royal Pacific Resort to Kidani Village and the fare was $36 one way.

The CHEAPEST way is to take the Lynx buses: catch 50 bus from the TTC to Sea World, change to the 8 bus to Wet 'n' Wild and it's a ten minute walk from there. That's $2 each way, but it'll take you an hour.

I wish Lynx ran a route from Universal to WDW but I'm guessing that neither party would allow it :sad2:

Does anyone know the estimated pick-up times for the Mears shuttles to Universal?

We need to make a topic like this a sticky. This is definitely one of the most frequently asked questions and we'll be hearing it A LOT with Harry Potter opening. :thumbsup2

Depending on your party size you might want to look into Happy Limo or FL Tours too. They can be cheaper than Mears at times.

There is a banner at the top of this thread. $109.99pp with transportation and 1 day/ 2 park ticket. Sound like a good deal depending on the number of people in your party.

About the banner with the 109.99 with transpo to Universal... Does anyone know what type of transportation this involves? Is it Mears? Thanks!

I did it a few weeks ago, they pick you up at your Disney resort at 25 after the hour.

They picked us up at 8:25 but didn't get to the park till 9:20.

They stop at other non Disney hotels, then Seaworld, when we got there the people in the Van only had $100 bills they had to go get change then we finally went to Universal.

The way back was even worse, as you have a bus full of people going to a bunch of hotels, it would be well over a Hour if you are not one the first stops.

Next time i am taking a Taxi.

I would think so since Mears practically has the monopoly on shuttles down here.

I think there should definitely be a stick transportation thread...

I stay at the south end of I-Drive and I'm contemplating Universal rather than Disney this time around... What's the best way of getting to Universal from down there? Is there anything between Sea-world and Universal? I'm only 1.5 miles from Sea-World.

Ask the desk clerk or concierge how to get to Major Blvd, it runs parallel to I-Drive without all the traffic and goes right to the parking entrance for Universal.

Not sure if this will help you but we looked into it quite a bit. For us, a party of 6, FL Tours town car is the best bet and what we will be doing. We are most likely doing a 2 leg trip but may make it 3.

WDW to Universal (transferring from YC to HRH) and then HRH to MCO.

two leg, which includes a stop at a grocery store if you want is $125, 3 leg is $175 (I think, I'd have to double check on that). For us, with 6 people it's by far the best and fastest option.

Originally we had YC after HRH but are trying to flip it so I need to relook at the 2 versus 3 leg situation. ME is free but a grocery stop is priceless.

:rotfl:

Sorry - I meant without a car - thinking of not getting a rental car this time around so I can relax a bit and not play at being chauffeur so much :)

I just bought the tickets with the tranfers advertised at the top of the page. Hopefully this works out okay,

Catch the 8 or the 42 or the I-Ride trolley until you are opposite Wet 'n' Wild.
You want to turn left from there onto Universal Boulevard, then a 10 minute direct walk to Universal.

Rent a car either from the airport or offsite. If your not willing to do that, and are staying over by the Swan, Dolphin, BW, BC, and YC, then rent one from alamo in the Dolphin. You can almost always get a decent code/deal with them though it's still usually more expensive than the airport/near the airport. There's also a AAA center outside the MK with alamo as well. It's much more economical and less of a pain (ie mears). You're looking at $70 easy (without tip) for roundtrip to Universal in a taxi.
