We are a party of 5 (DH, ME, DD19, DD16, DS6) flying into SNA the end of July. We are staying at BWPPI, and wondered what the best choice for transportation would be from the airport to the hotel.

Thanks for your help!

Taxi is the best way to go! We were there in Feb and it was about $38 plus tip to our hotel on harbor (BWPPI) . You will need a mini-van taxi for a family of five! Have fun

I cannot imagine you will find anything cheaper than a taxi for 5 people. We have done it a couple times. Cost will be $40-45 plus tip so call it $45-50.

For other options see "Airport Proximity to DLR and Ground Transportation Information" by 3TinksAndAnEeyore www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2318297

Will these be readily available or do I need to have one reserved before I get there?

You don't have to reserve ahead. They may have you sit on the bench and wait a couple of minutes for a van to circle around, but it doesn't ever take long.

Hey there,

No need to pre book

As you leave the baggage claim area go towards the Bus, shuttle Taxi area. Right side of airport.
You will cross the road and the taxis will be right in front of you..
We took a Van to our hotel and it was $45. with tip.

Have a great time:banana:

Oh I agree about the taxi. If you were to do the super shuttle it would be $50 before tip!

The last couple of times I took a taxi it was $38 from the airport to the hotel. I am not sure what the return rate is as I always get a voucher from the hotel for a $32 flat rate, but I think they only have those at the DLR hotels. Since you can just walk out of the airport or hotel and grab a taxi, it's a lot more convenient than booking a shuttle or having to catch the DL Express, which only operates every 1/2 hour or something. Does DLE go to the good neighbor hotels?

You *can* get a $14 pp RT fare on SuperShuttle, but for 5 people it's a lot nicer to just take a taxi!

Is your 6 year old still of a size to need a car seat? If so, I was told the only types of transportation in which one isn't required are a bus (so we used Disneyland Resort Express, which you can get tickets for at Getaway Today in advance for $9 per person) or a limo/town car (which we used from HoJos back to the airport for $45 + tip).

Oh yes yes yes. Take a cab. It will be 50 bucks each way, when you include the tip, and you can get from the luggage carousel to your hotel in 25minutes! Time is money!!!!

We are going to book a shuttle from 24-7 rides for our December trip. Roundtrip is going to be roughly $75 (plus a tip).

This could throw a wrench into our plans...as our DS is roughly 42 inches tall and a bit under 40#'s. Hope we can get away with no carseat in the shuttle van...but I guess that's something I need to maybe contact 24-7 rides about now.

The new California car seat law is they are in a booster until they are 8 years old, unless they reach 4'9'' before they turn 8.

We had planned to take Disney bus for this very reason. But a shuttle driver came over while we were waiting and said he could take us (sorry don't remember name). They had a booster seat they could install and for me that was good enough for the 20 min ride. Honestly - I don't think they cared about the new rules. Using the seat was definiteley an option to them.

$10 per person and it was like a super shuttle but they filled it with people only going to our hotel.

Taxi 100% is my vote. If you take Super Shuttle or even the Disneyland express you are going to be paying at least $10 per person. Plus you will have to make stops along the way to drop other people off.

Taxi's you can grab just outside the SNA terminal by the Super Shuttle rentals. They are all lined up there waiting for people. No reservations are required. There are taxi cars, taxi vans etc. They charge you about $45 one way including tip. (NEVER PAID MORE THEN THIS EVER). You also go straight to your hotel with no stops or sharing the van. :thumbsup2

Thankfully we worry about this regarding car seats. He is 48" and weighs roughly 85 pounds.
