We will be spending 2-3 days in Orlando prior to our Western Cruise 9/28. What is the best way to get to Port? We want to board as early as possible so that we can be sure to get Flounder's Reef ressies (we have two under two). Are we better to rent a car and drive ourselves, or to use bus or other transportation?

Thanks for the helpful hints!

You can get a one-way car rental for about $40/day from Avis, have your husband drop you & the kids at the port, then he can return the car & take the shuttle back and meet you in line. It may be easier for you with 2 babies than messing with the bus, plus you have control over the schedule.

I don't know that you need to worry about your Fluonders Reef reservations. From what I have read on these boards, DCL knows how many of each age-group kids there are on-board (since you provide that when you reserve) and won't take more than the programs can handle. Check with people more expert than me, but I am pretty sure that's how it works.

If there are 4 of you, doing a one-way rental from Avis will save you money and allow you to get to the port before the DCL buses begin to arrive.

We've used Avis for all 3 of our cruises and have had no problems at all.

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to cruise with 2 little 'uns!

We did the Avis rental and it worked great. Rented carseats from them as well. Just make sure that your luggage fits into the size car you rent. We packed light and had no problem with an intermediate car.

Thanks for all the great advice so far--- on this and the other threads as well.

Yes, we really are nuts. Crusing not just with our two littlest, but with ALL FOUR of our little mice!!!! Last year, we did Disneyland with a 6 year old (2 weeks post spinal cord surgery), a 3 year old, a 13 month old and a 5 year old. We just get these crazy Disney Dreams and can't let go!!! Luckily, all our kids love Disney as much as we do!!!
