Hi - this will be our first time to WDW. We are considering staying at either the Disney All Star Moves Resort for $109/nite or another hotel off Disney property, but right at the gate -- $55/nite, (within 1 mile). How do you get to Disney attractions from the ASM Resort. Does anyone know how the hotel -- I believe it's a Holiday Inn -- works the transportation. I would like to go with the lesser $ hotel -- if the there's not tons of waiting for a bus. Otherwise, I'd rather go with the ASM Resort. Does anyone know what's better to do?

We stayed last year at Holiday Inn Family Suites and it was terrific.
Although we had a car,we did take a bus on a couple of occasions and unfortunately they are few and far between.
Distance wise it is only a few minutes from everything and I would highly recommend it.
The only down side is that since last year their prices have risen substantially to the extent where we have booked elsewhere at a more reasonable cost.
As far as the Disney reasorts are concerned.there are tons of buses running constantly and once you get to the hub or Downtown Disney ,you can go anywhere you want in the WDW resort and attractions areas.
I'm just curious as to what time of year you were thinking about because $109/night for All Star seems a bit steep?

We are going 02/16/03. A friend told me that the transportation fomr other hotels outside of Disney isn't that great because you have to wai for a bus along with thousands of other people. He said I'd spend a ton of time waiting for busses -- I guess even with the hotel that's located 1 mile from Disney. He said that even though All Star Movies is more $, it's worth it due to the fact that you don't have to wait.

For me, staying onsite is part of the magic. If you're depending on busses for transportation, being in a Disney resort is the best way to go.

Another vote for All Stars!!:)
If you will be depending on buses....the only way to go is on-site.
We had friends of ours meet us at WDW in June '00. They stayed at the HIFS. And complained the whole time about the buses!! They ended up renting a car after the 3rd day.
When they saw how easy it was for us (we were at PO-R), they swore they would never stay off-site again. The following year they stayed at Swan/Dolphin with the government rate........and loved it.

Even though you will be going President's week and that is "peak" season, there still may be discounts available. Make the reservation now and you can always change it with a discount. If nothing else, you should be able to get a AAA or Disney Club discount.

If you book your first night at WDW during value season, you will get the rest of your nights at that price as well! ;)

We did this in February by booking our first night during VALUE SEASON on 02/12 at $ 59.00 a night and paid $ 59.00 a night for the rest of our stay even though peak season started that Thursday! :D

We were glad we got there a couple of days before President's Day weekend because once it started as well as tourists in town for the Daytona 500, the parks were unbearably crowded. :( Maybe you guys can do the same and come in a few days early?

Go with the All Stars....you will NOT go wrong, believe me, its the ONLY hotel I stay at!:o :p
