Transportation for Solo to and from Airport

Taking my first solo trip to WDW and want to get some input about airport transportation. I have always used a towncar before and I am a little unsure of doing this solo. Comments, hints, ideas?

I've always used Mears. I know that a lot of people have had negative comments about them, but I've used them for several years now, sometimes two or three times a year and I've not had a single problem. For me, going solo, I just can't justify the approximately 3x cost of one of the towncar services over the cost of Mears.

I am planning a solo trip also and was looking into transportation, people mentioned towncar services, they mentioned that they thought it was worth the extra money, but for me it isn't, I would rather it take a little longer to get to the resort then pay, as BobBrazeal says, the 3x more. Mears isn't really too bad, fine for me.

I've only used Mears too, mainly for the cost. I take an early am flight and don't go to a park the day of arrival so the time consumed using Mears is not a problem.

My next trip in May, my daughter and her BGF are going with me for 4 days so I'm taking a towncar. But, returning on Mears by myself. I would feel funny in a towncar alone. I shouldn't tho, after working in Boston for the phone co and taking many taxi's back and forth between offices. Now that was too many years ago when I was a young chick ;)

Thanks for all the responses. I think I will try Mears. Do I need to pre-arrange with them or can I catch them at the airport?:)

Every time that I've tried to make a "reservation" they've told me to just go to the counter in the airport on the floor below the baggage claim.

I used them a few weeks ago and when my flight arrived at MCO, I went to their counter and 5 min. later, I was on my way to WDW!!! :pinkbounc

Thanks for all the input. I will wait until I arrive to get Mears. And I can purchase a round trip transfer at that time. Correct?

I have never had any problems with Mears, except that on the last trip I used them they insisted on picking me up 4 hours early to go back to the airport. That really wasn't necessary. 2.5 to 3 hours would have been sufficient.

For 1 or 2 passengers, Mears costs considerably less than a towncar. They'll also drive you over to Universal and back for $12 if you want a daytrip off Disney property.

Thanks TDC Nala! We are leaving Wednesday for WDW and DH and I wanted to venture to CityWalk to look around and eat at Emerils and I had been researching how to get from WDW to CityWalk and back and you just gave me the answer!

$12 is great compared to a towncar or cab fare, do you know how I would make a reservation to go to Universal and how late they run? (Our ressie at Emerils is at 9:30 pm and it might be midnight before we are done with dinner!)

Thanks for any input!

I seem to be in the minority. To me it is worth the extra for the TTC instead of Mears. I love coming down the escalators to have my driver waiting. And for $80 compared to $27, yeah its more, but in the big scheme of the budget, it is not that bad.

But that's just me, I absolutely see why people would not spend the extra. But the hassle of Mears, (especaillt the early pickup) makes it worth the extra.

You may want to check Mears website for a coupon. I haven't checked lately but they did have one a month or so ago. Saving every couple of bucks helps!

By the way, GatorGirl--you'll love Emerils!!!

You should have gotten a discount coupon for Mears with your WDW room confirmation. It will save you $3.00 per person. If you did not get the coupon call CRO and they will mail you one.
