Transportation during Holidays

Still havent decided which hotel to stay at Universal during New Years eve weekend. After reading these boards, i see that you can walk to Universal Studios from the Hard Rock. But i was wondering how often to buses and boats run during the holidays from Portofino and Royal Pacific. We have been at DisneyWorld during holidays and have experienced very long waits for buses and monorails. Just were wondering how long it takes to get back to the onsite hotels from Universal Studios, also can you walk back to your room at Portofino? Thanks.

The boats run back and forth all day long at pretty reasonable intervals--about 15 minutes. It's an easy walk to the parks from the Royal Pacific too. A little longer from Portofino, but it's doable.

Thanks for the response. The map of Universal looks huge, so I thought only Hard Rock was in walking distance. I like to option of not waiting for Universals transportation, and just walking back to our hotel. All of the onsite hotels look great, we are having a hard time deciding, but after coming from a 2 bedroom in the Wilderness lodge for 7 nights, we are leaning towards the Portofino because of room size. My kids are teenagers, and so we need a little more room now.

the RP is very close to IOA - much closer than the other hotels - the walking path lets you out at the entrance.

Since your kids are teenagers - I really think this would be a better hotel for what you want.

I would have to say that HRH is the preferred resort for teenagers.
