Transportation companies & rules on Disboards

Just curious, I thought it was against the Disboards rules for a transportation company to promote their services on this website? Obviously that is what member "Edd" is doing, he owns the website "TAXI-MCO.COM" that he mentions. So, if Ed Korgan is allowed to break the rules, does that mean all other transportation companies in Orlando can as well?

Can you point to a post where he solicites for business? I could be wrong, but, I have never seen him ask for business or state that he was an owner.

I have to say that Edd thinks I exist to drive him crazy but I don't think he is really advertising his company directly. (He is advertising the overall towncar industry with his "Safety' "comfort" etc message, but I would guess the board sponsor is OK with that)

(However, Edd's arguments on WHY we should use town cars have only convinced me that I should keep renting a car or using ME....so if it is advertising it's not being effective LOL!)

That was my post and he answered as if he was an outsider looking in. I hadn't looked at any member information but I don't particularly like being mislead either. If that it is you - don't respond or reveal that you are that driver.

Carol - I'm going to Disney from port and don't want have to hassle with a rental car but this makes me want to waste an hour of time.

Questions like that should be directed to the webmaster. FL TOURS is a board sponsor but, unlike other boards, DIS generally allows posters to talk about other transportation companies. Other companies are even allowed to post as long as the self-promotion doesn't go over the top and is balanced with providing information. These decisons are solely made by DIS and I don't see any useful purpose for your post.

There are many transportation companies that serve MCO. I'm amazed that a few posters continue to talk up Sunray. I don't know if they are affiliated with Sunray, if Sunray gives them a discount for posting or if they are just rabid fans. I'm sure Sunray gives good service, but I'm equally sure many other companies give similar service. Interesting that Sunray customers are the ones who post.

From the tone of your post most of us, probably including Ed, thought you who knew who your driver is. FL Tours is a board sponsor, other companies aren't suppose to be soliciting business. Ed has probably gone as far as he's allowed to go in letting us know he's in the business.

Based on your earlier post I thought you were doing Ed a favor with your post, possibly even posting at his request.

No, I don't know Edd nor did I know that was him that I was asking about. I do feel that his answer was a bit misleading. I felt a PM would've been appropriate disclosing who he was. I would've been a much happier camper if he had. I'm finicky about stuff like this and may have over reacted but I can't help the way I felt. I know I feel like a duntz that I asked Ed for reviews on himself.

Okay, you know what??? This was addressed last night. Edd had never made a secret of the fact that he works in the 'business'. I have watched, and read, and have yet to find an instance where he has 'self-promoted'. Yes, Edd does like to talk up the private sector of transportation in Orlando, while talking down DME, but he has yet to give any type of solicitation.
It is in fact, other posters who have given such info.
If someone has an issue with what they feel to be someone soliciting, please get in touch directly with a moderator or webmaster.
