Hello,
My family is going to Disney in Sept. (staying onsite) and we wanted to do a day at Universal Studios. I don't want to rent a car for only one days use so I was wondering if there was any transportation available between the 2 Theme Parks.

Mears will provide you with transportation or you can take a cab. The cheaper alternative depends on how many people will be going.

For two of us, it was slightly less expensive to schedule a Mears shuttle. We did this two years ago.

(Dial 0 from your room phone and ask the operator for Mears. You need to make this reservation the day before or earlier.)

What we found, though, is that there are only certain times to pick up the shuttle. We found ourselves sitting and waiting for it because we finished our breakfast at Chef Mickey's 30 minutes earlier than we'd planned. The shuttle was crowded, and we had to make several stops before we finally got to Universal.

For the extra convenience of being able to come and go as needed, be alone in the cab, and go straight to where we wanted to go; the extra cost was worth it.

If you've got a whole family going, the cab is probably also the cheaper option for you. If your group is larger than will fit in a car, keep in mind that the cabs that are vans are the same fare as the cars.

Thank you for the info. We will have 4 adults and 1 toddler. Do you know about what the cost for each is...(cab vs. shuttle)? Also can you get a cab\van with a child seat?

Okay, I'm pulling these numbers from memory from 8 months ago, so they may be off a little. Someone else jump in if you have more up-to-date numbers.

I think I remember the Mears shuttle being $17 per person for the round trip. The cab cost us about $75 round trip from SSR (which is the closest Disney resort to Universal). It would be more to other resorts, but you could use Disney transportation to get to Downtown Disney and take the cab from/to there if you wanted to save a little.
