Transportation Between Resorts for Dining

So we are going to be staying at CSR for our upcoming Disney trip this fall. We plan on eating several dinners at AKL. I know that we will have to take a bus from our resort to Animal Kingdom Park and then to AKL as buses do not go directly from resort to resort. If we are making a dining reservation for 7 to 8 in the evening, will we probably have to take a cab back to our resort as the buses will have stopped running? Any idea how hard that is to do and what the price would run if we have to?

Cab would be the fastest. I would figure $20 should cover it.

You could always take a bus to a different park and catch a bus to CSR from there, but that will definitely take time.

I do not know al the ins and outs of travel but I have had very late ressies and 1 resort while staying at a different resort and I have never had to take anything other than Disney transportation. I think we had a 8:30 ressie and had no trouble getting back to The Poly.

Yes, but the Poly is near the TTC, so you could always hop a bus from anywhere to the TTC and walk to the Poly.

OP, you can always go to DTD then hop a bus back to your resort. Cabs are nice and quick, though.

I may be wrong but I think the AK closes around 5 or 6pm - although buses operate up to an hour after the park closes. IMO you might be better to take a bus to DHS & then onto AKL & then return to DTD & home. Don't forget to pick up some zebra domes in the Mara before you leave, mmmm.

You can't take a bus between any Disney resort and the TTC. The MK buses go all the way around to the bus depot by the park gate. Only buses to DHS and AK use the TTC.

To go from one resort to another using Disney transport (with a few obvious and a few less obvious exceptions) requires using a park or DTD as a transfer point. Which park depends on proximity to the resorts between which you will be travelling and, in some cases, which park is open. The only time DTD makes sense (unless you are coming to or leaving from SSR) is when all of the parks are closed.

A cab almost always will be quicker, but you usually can do just fine on Disney transport IMO. Some people just don't like the buses, however, so if that's you, cab it.

From CSR to AKL you are looking at a very reasonable cab rate. I would put it around $10 plus tip, they are very close to each other.

What I do when I don't want to pay for a cab, regardless of which resort I stay in, is get on the first bus I see. If its at night, DTD busses come regularly but you will see several park busses most likely before a DTD one. During the day or early evening, any park bus will be just fine. I just grab the first one, no need to wait for a different one, even if its a park that is closer to the resort you are going to.

For the record, last June, my family and I went to WDW his family. His aunt hurt her knee and getting on the busses was tough. One night we needed to get from ASMU to AKL. Because we needed a van to seat all six of us (which didnt' work for her knee problem) and because because I didn't want to pay for two cabs, I just took my kids by bus, to MK, then hopped off and easily got over to AKL stop and in no time a bus came. Dh went from our room, to the front of the resort, they called a cab, the driver took them over and we actually had beat them. Even with going all the way over to MK and switching busses, the kids and I beat them there.

Cabs can be very nice, but they aren't always a sure way to get there faster.

If the parks are closed, the cabs are much faster than going to DTD to change (unless you are staying at SSR and can walk). We always do cabs for dinner and have always found them to be fast and inexpensive.

If you are cheap like me - take the bus from AKL to another park and then back to your resort.:rotfl:

I want to lobby Disney for a resort to resort bus.

We always take a cab. That way we can spend more time in the parks and leisurely dress for dinner/lunch.;)
