We are booked there the week of Halloween. We normally stay at OKW but the kids really wanted to try this location after we visited for Pizza and to walk around one night in the spring.

I can not remember the spill about the transportation. I know you walk some place, do a boat, share a bus etc...

We might have our sons Service Dog by then and both of my boys are Autistic.

Can someone fill me in on the scoop?

Ok so boat or walk only to DHS & Epcot and the bus goes to AK and MK but shared. Whew.. ok

Now how crowded are the busses at off times (not rope drop etc) once it gets to BW to pick you up? We will happily wait buses for a seat an space for the boys and dog.

Thank you :)

Walk or boat to Studios and Epcot. Boats run Epcot - BWI/BWV - YC/BC - S/D - Studios - S/D - YC/BC - BWI/BWV - Epcot. Trip to and from Epcot that way is under 10 minutes, trip to and from Studios can easily be 30. However, the S/D dock is a short walk right over the bridge from the end of the boardwalk and thus you can choose to use that stop for BWV.

Walk to Epcot is about 10 minutes casual pace, to studios about 20 to 25 (if at rooms that are far from lobby, you can exit via stairs and have the shorter time walk).

For other parks and DD, you use bus (unless you have a rental car which you will wish you had after using the BW buses). There is one bus stop at BWI/BWV which is on the BWI side of the resort. It shares buses with Swan and Dolphin which are two stops and sometimes also with YC/BC which adds another two stops. BW is usually, but not always, the first stop hit before going to a park and the first hit when coming back. Buses can be crowded and sometimes standing room only for BW patrons during early morning rush time if they switch order of usual stops, which they sometimes do. Other times of day usually not an issue except when bus is running late (all too often), meaning much longer than the expected 20 minutes or so between buses. Be aware that at BW, lousy bus service seems to be the norm and not the exception (personal view it is the worst system on site). All too often you wait a long time for a bus going or coming (and a long time can sometimes mean 50 minutes or more).

Depending on timing and whether or not you have park hopper tickets, another option to get to MK is to take the monorail from Epcot. I don't know if the monorail is better than a bus for your kids and dog but thought I would mention it.
We always go in October and the bus routine has been BW first stop going and returning with stops at Swan and Dolphin after BW. The AK bus also stops at Blizzard Beach, I believe. My DH does not like taking his scooter on the buses so we walk or boat to Epcot and DHS and use a rental car for AK and sometimes MK. Being able to get to both Epcot and DHS without a bus is a big plus for us. I walk over to Illuminations most nights if we are back at BWV by then.

My experience with BW busses is that BW is first stop for MK bus but last stop for other buses. When coming back to BW from AK or DTD I usually get off at Swan and walk back.

We've found buses to and from the BW to be fairly crowded most of the time. Which doesn't mean you can't get a seat, but you might need to be first in line - which might mean waiting for the second bus.

We do a lot of walking through Epcot (need hoppers) from the monorail on the way back - but be warned, its a longish walk.

A car is an option, as is a cab. We do quite a few cabs - especially for those rope drop at the MK mornings.

With many discussions with DH we actually lucked up and was able to change to another DVC resort. We will visit BW for the pizza and things my boys like but I feel it would have too many transitions at this time.

TY for all the input. Someday I hope to stay there.:goodvibes

We've had the same experience. One of the nice things about staying at the Epcot resorts is you have a choice of two buses to get you back as you're leaving the parks. We would always take whichever came first of the BW/S/D or YC/BC buses and walk to our resort if necessary.
