Hi all-

In anticipation of next years marathon weekend, DH and I are already thinking about getting around and timing. We will arrive on Thursday and go to the expo, we have a group of at least 7 (possibly 8) and everyone will be running at least 1 event. The 5k and Half are not a problem particularly, since we have time afterward. The problem is with the full.

The race starts at 5:30-6am-ish, and I don't have a clue yet as to which corral my coach and I will be in. I am estimating a 5 hour endeavor, so realistically finishing around 11-11:30 am. This is where the problem arises. We are going on a cruise that afternoon, and have to get ourselves to PC by 3:30. Everyone else in our group is planning to be at the finish to see us and then driving us back to the house/hotel/wherever the heck we are staying. DH wants to know how the traffic is getting out and how long it would take us to just get out of EPCOT.

I am sure someone has experience with this, so if you can help, it would be much appreciated. Again, we have eons of time to worry about this, but these are the things we think/talk about when its 12 degrees outside and we are wishing we were in the World.:upsidedow

Thanks for any help.

I finished the full in 2011 in about 6 hrs. So that put me at Epcot closer to 12-12:30 ish. After obligatory photos and such, we headed for the rental car (and back to the rental house) with no problems whatsoever! I think maybe the later your finish time the better the exiting traffic? Worked for me last year! Hope that helps.

In general, if you will be driving to PC, no problems running the marathon and getting over to the port. Though the traffic varies year to year from non existent to a jam taking an hour to get out of the parking lot it normally only takes 10 minutes or so to get out of the lot once you are in the car.

Someone on my team left for the cruise immediately the full. I can't remember if she drove to Epcot or if they went back to the resort afterward. Send a PM to piglet24 and ask her what her experience was like. She'll probably have some tips for you :)
