Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips for transport between
I-Drive and WDW. We will not be hiring a car so will have to ether use public transport / the hotel shuttle service / Taxis.

The hotel we are staying at does have a shuttle service but you are obviously then restricted to certain times which might not be convenient all the time!

Can anyone help with an approx cost for a taxi between Universal and WDW?
Also are there public transport buses that we could use?

Thanks :thumbsup2

This might help a calculator from Mears. Don't know how accurate it is. Only Taxi we have ever done is from Airport to Allstars a few years back when they ran out of hire cars. That cost $50.

Just had a look and does not look great as from Universal to Magic Kingdom its $31.75 but put in the going opposite way its $37.75 but it will give you some idea.
Can't imagine a trip without a car, we were without for 1 night and hated it. Not into buses, The monorail is bad enough.

Hi Daysleeper, we went for 6 days last year stayng at POR; didn't bother with a car. Used Disney transportation service which was great and used Mears shuttle for visits to Sea World and Discivery cove....think it wa avout $45 return for the three of us (2 adults and one child).

Going for two weeks this year and will be using same transport as before.

Oh, we are off the Marwell tomorrow (Saturday); we only live 15 mins away.

cheers

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has ever used the Lynx buses?? Here's the link for their main web site and a link to the southwest area map.
We always have a car, so can't comment on the public transport.. its just we've seen these buses running about all over the place, so might be worth a try! Having checked the prices.. it seems very reasonable... $6 for a weeks pass!

Hope this helps?

Looks like route 50 on the Lynx bus might be a goer. Has anyone done this before?

Is is easy to get to any WDW park from the transportation and ticket centre? (this is where the bus stops) It sounds like it should be but you never know!

We would probably use taxi's on the way back but it would be a choice between the hotel shuttle and the Lynx bus on the way to WDW. If the Lynx bus takes a long time we may as well just stick with the hotel shuttle.

Hi Daysleeper,
Have never used the Lynx bus system, but there are always loads on the roads. The Lynx buses seem to be what the local use! Should be the best/cheapest route! Does the Lynx website give timetables? I'm sure you'll be able to find out more info when you get there.

The Lynx website does give timetables and the bus doesn't seem to take too long (25 mins) BUT on other sites /message boards people have been saying it can take 1 1/2 or more :confused3

We would have to get form I-Ride stop 7 to wherever the Lynx bus goes from (pretty sure it is near Sea World which is right down the other end) and then from the Disney transport centre to the particular Disney Park.

My issue with the hotel shuttle is that I think it picks up from other hotels as well so may take quite a long time... but then it is free.

They are probably going to work out about the same and I am overthinking things as usual

If anyone has done the Lynx thing it would be interesting to hear about tho!

Hi the no50 takes about 20mins and they have two an hour its pretty easy to use, but depending on where u are staying at I-Drive it could be another 30mins plus to get to SW and from SW, personally I'd use the bus or shuttle to get there and get a taxi back when everyone is knackered, also u may find the hotel has a taxi service thats cheaper if u come to an arrangement with the driver we've done that before, this will be our 6th trip and never had a car as I cant drive, just budget for a few taxis:goodvibes

Thanks highlander447 - we are by Wet n Wild, stop number 7 for the I-Ride so I'm thinking you are right - shuttle there and taxi back seems the best option :thumbsup2

We are trying to save enough to have $200 per day between the two of us so hopefully we will have enough money in the budget to accomodate the taxis on the days we go to WDW :)

I've used the Lynx buses from Disney to Seaworld, doesn't take long at all but once took a Lynx bus from some mall, can't remember the name, and it went down/up I Drive and took at least an hour just on that stretch :sad2:

Its also cheaper to take the Disney bus to DTD and then pick up a taxi there as we found when staying at LBV. We used to get a taxi from our hotel to DTD, then get the first Disney resort bus that came and then take a Disney bus to the park we were heading to. We took the opportunity to look through all the Disney resorts while doing that too :rolleyes1

We used the Lynx bus last year from the TTC, great for Sea World, anywhere further afield, eg. Universal I'd recommend using Mears.

We used the Lynx bus on our December trip to get to the Florida Mall and Festival Bay. We didn't use it to get to Disney as after looking at the timetables the journey seemed to be quite long and require a change of bus (we were staying at the Quality inn plaza on I-Drive). We used the hotel shuttle service to get to Disney instead - it was $15 each for a round trip and I think it was town and country who provided the bus. It wasn't too bad it took 30 mins ish each day to get to the parks although at times they just dropped off at the TTC rather than the individual parks. The only downside was the evening driver - he was always late amd really moody (he even shut the bus doors on me one night as I was getting off and then moaned at me for being in the way!!). But we preferred to use this option rather than the Lynx as it picked us up from outside hotel reception and dropped us back there at night.

We'll definitely use the shuttle service again when we return this year.

Hope this helps!
