Hello,

I'm going to be in LA for a couple of days with 1 other person in April before heading over to Disneyland. We plan on spending some time at Universal Studios on the day we are later going to head over to Disney. Has anyone ever taken an uber/lyft for this journey? I'm just wondering if that would be a good option. And does anyone remember roughly the price they paid? I had a look at some of the fair estimators on their websites but I wasn't sure if those took into account the time it will take in traffic or just did it based on the distance.

I've looked at a couple of the tour busses, but I can't seem to find a one way transport and ideally we would want to head into Disney earlier than most of those busses seem to leave. Renting a car isn't an option for us either.

Thanks!

Few options for Universal/Disneyland...

1) Buses/Shuttles...$25 and up

2) Taxi / Uber is $100 or so. Traffic and a few other things run the fare up.

3) Mass Transit is available. ($20? ish)
a..Red Line Subway from Universal to Union Station (Cheap as $2)
b..Metrolink or Amtrak Trains to Anaheim

4) Fancy folks can charter a Limo or Towncar for $75/hour

Although shuttles and private cars are definitely easier for an out-of-towner, the public transit options are still pretty good. It is very easy to catch the subway (red line) from Universal Studios; you take a little tram to the bottom of the hill and the station is right across the street. Take the red line to Union Station, where you can board an Amtrak train to Anaheim; they run about every hour and a half. (If there is a Metrolink train that fits your schedule you can also take that, but since it is a commuter rail service it has a limited schedule.) When you arrive at the Anaheim train station, you can take an Anaheim Resort Transit bus directly to Disneyland. The red line trip costs $1.75 per person, the Amtrak tickets are usually about $15 per person, and the ART bus I think is around $2 per person.

Uber is a great choice...you can go on their site for a fare estimate. If you are going from DL...all three resort hotels have flat rate vouchers available for $100 from a DL hotel to Universal. Don't know about the other way around if that is an option.

You'd have to buy a TAP card for the red line, so it's $2.75. At the stations they take credit and debit. You can use the public transportation search option in Google maps to plan if you're going to take trains.

We are staying in L.A for 3 days before heading to Disneyland on our trip in September. I had looked into a taxi/uber and while this was a good option for getting picked up straight from your hotel I wanted something a bit more cost effective. Our plan is to catch an uber/taxi back to the airport and then catch the Disneyland express!!
