We have a large family vacation planned (12 people one of which will be a 3 yr old). We are doing 3 days at WDW and then a cruise. What would be the best and most inexpensive why to transport all of us from WDW to the port? This will be our first full family vacation EVER!! Thank you for the help in advance.

We added on the transportation transfer for $70/each person, round trip.
Thats definitely not the most inexpensive.

OP, look into renting cars from either the Disney Care Center or the car rental place at the Swan (Alamo has a location at each place). You can rent a standard size car for about $100 each way and put 3-4 people in each car.

Disney Car Center has free shuttles from your resort to the car center (you have to reserve the day before) and the whole process of bring picked up and getting back to your resort takes less than an hour. Then, having your own car you can stop on the way for things you may have forgotten (sunscreen, beer and/or wine you plan to take on board, sunglasses, etc).

Budget is at the Doubletree and Avis is at the Holiday Inn. Renting a couple of cars would be a cost friendly way to get to the port and back. A minivan is about $100.

Cheapest is renting cars and driving yourself.

Best is subjective.

For us, best is taking DCL bus and letting them handle all of the driving and luggage.

Another option would be a car service that has a van. Many on these boards use

Florida tours
Happy Limo
Southern Elegance

to name a few.

Cheapest is probably working through the shuttle services. You have to take into account the luggage you will have. Renting a large van is pretty expensive and one may not be enough for 12 people. Many of the shuttle services will let you pick different size vehicles. I'd make an honest assessment of your luggage and talk directly with the shuttle services to get an estimate. I know the Mears shuttle vans can hold a lot of people/luggage, but I'm betting you need at least 2 of those vans for 12 people and probably 15+ bags.

Thank you for all of the info. Still have a some time to book and will report back which one we select.

We changed our plan! No longer using the $70 transportation.

We booked Avis for $58 for 2, one way cars. One from MCO to port. And then Port to MCO.
We are staying at Animal Kingdom the night before the cruise so that wasn't a problem. We aren't flying out until evening of final day, so we have an entire day to spend at Disney Springs.
Transportation only takes you to a Disney Resort or MCO. We'll have all of our luggage so we were in a pickle.

Not only is it a fraction of the cost, it's much more convenient.

Yes, pick up at MCO and park at Animal Kingdom overnight. Drive to port next morning and drop car at port.

Final day, port to MCO.

I have gotten a full size from both Budget (at Doubletree WDW) and Avis (Holiday Inn WDW) for about $40. I dropped it off at the port the next AM and got their shuttle to the port (and back).
