We are doing that happy, hectic dance here in the Iott household as we are 7 days out from WDW. We are having breakfast one morning at crystal palace @8:05am. Park doesnt open until 9am. We are staying off property in a rental home in Indian Creek. I know I need to park at TTC. Do I then take the park monorail, resort monorail or is the ferry running that early? We want to be on the monorail/ferry to MK by 7:30am so we can get thru security and stroll down mainstreet w/o a rush and hurry.

Thanks for any help! :thumbsup2

Take the express monorail. It's probably the quickest way at that time.

If the park opens to the public at 9AM, the express monorail may not be running at 7:30. If not, walk over th the Poly and take the resort monorail from there.

When we took the 8:30 a.m. KTTK tour in October 2006, the express monorail wasn't running yet at around 7:45 a.m. (park opening was at 9:00 a.m. that day). We had to take the resort monorail.

D'oh! You're right... it probably won't be running that early. The resort monorail might be the only choice.

So...ok, I should jump on the resort monorail at TTC to get to MK, right? Just so I know what would be my stop after grabbing it at TTC? Does it hit all the resorts before stopping at MK? In what order?

The stops are all announced and you can see through the window where you're at. The Resort Monorail runs clockwise around the Lagoon. It stops at the TTC, the Poly, the Grand Floridian, the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, then back to the TTC.

If you get there that early you're most likely in for a wait outside the park. Bag checks takes no time at all, especially that early in the morning, and then you'll have to wait to be let into the park. You will have to walk down Main Street with a group of other people with ressies that early which is escorted by a CM. Before opening no guests are allowed to be in the park without a CM escort.

There is also a very pleasant walkway from the TTC to the Poly. You can enjoy an absolutely glorious walk through the Poly grounds on your way to the Great Ceremonial House, where you would head upstairs to board the resort monorail.

Maybe it's just my obsessive Poly love, but that's absolutely what I'd do.

Have a magical trip!

Sometimes when the express monorail from the TTC to MK isn't running early, they won't let you board the resort monorail at the TTC. As previously mentioned, use the walkway to the Poly and board the resort monorial there. You will stop at the GF, then get off at the MK.

I have had many early morning ADRs at both CP and CRT. Not once have I been held up as I got to the CM with the clipboard. And, I have never experienced being escorted by a CM to my restuarant. Main St. has always been open to guests with early ADRs. Some great photo ops to be had. Now, if that has changed, I would like the info.

I may be mistaken. I took the Steam Trains tour on my last trip and I saw a decent sized group of people walking down Main Street for early ADRs and I think they were being escorted. Some of what our tour guide said confirmed that. He said something about being sure we wore our name tags and not go farther than the restroom while waiting for the train so we wouldn't get into trouble for being in the park before opening.

I bet those were behind the scenes tours, not people going for breakfast, as you don't have a "name tag" to go to breakfast!

I don't know if the group I saw walking down Main Street were wearing tags but I know the group I was with were and that we were told to make sure we wore them so we wouldn't get into trouble.

I have a few 'before hours' breakfasts in Jan...I'll be interested to see if there have been any changes. I really don't think there is any way they are going to have CMs escorting people around Main St. People have ADRs at all different times...they would have to have a ton of CMs on duty to escort guests to CP or to CRT.
As far as being in the park before it officially opens, there is little you can do, other than take some photos. There are no shops open, nowhere to get into any mischief. You check in with the CM with the clipboard, then go through the turnstiles, and off to your restaurant. Now...I don't think I would try to get in at 7:45 if my ADR wasn't until 8:30...I think that would be pushing it a bit and I don't think they would allow me in that early. But, I really don't think there is any issue if I show up at 8:15 for that 8:30 ADR.
I think it may have been a case of those being on the tours having to have nametags because they would not have any other reason to be in the parks. If you are going to an early ADR for breakfast, then you have a reason to be there. When I did the KTTK tour in Dec, I checked in at the desk before the park officially opened. No problem. But, we were told not to wander off without our tour guide. Our tour left at 8:30 if I remember correctly, so it would have been before the park opened and it would have looked as if we were being 'escorted'. But that was for the tour, not an early ADR.
But, I'll report back when I return from my Jan trip.
