DH, DS (age 8) and I all have them. If I am going to be outside for a long time, or if I am driving, I switch to my prescription sunglasses, because they don't seem to get quite dark enough for my comfort on those things. But if I am just walking between buildings or whatever, they are fine. I have not had a problem with them staying dark for too long indoors. DH and DS love theirs and do not have separate pairs of prescription sunglasses. They said the transitions are dark enough for them. DS especially loves his, and it is nice to know that he automatically has his sunglasses on when he's outdoors. I suppose you could get them and then get a pair of clip-on sunglasses for driving if they are not dark enough for you.
