So my son is getting his wish trip in October. He is 8 years old and in a wheelchair. I just want to know if the rides where he can't stay in chair he would still be able to go on? He cannot sit on his own without someone beside him and want to know if they would allow this?

tons of rides. As long as he can get into a seat or someone put him a seat. For example Soarin I rent a scooter keep in mind i'am mobile. I rode the scooter over to the seat got on. The cast member took the scooter away and when the ride was over he bought it back to the same spot.

The test track also but they warn if the ride fails you have to be able to walk 5 flights of stairs. Hopefully there's no problem with the ride.

Star Wars if you can sit in the seat, they take the chair around by the exit and there's room to bring in the chair in later.

I don't recommend Space Mountain (because the compartment is not user friendly). I miss going on because of that reason.

Big Thunder RR another good ride. Toy Story in HS I believe they have a compartment that you don't have to leave the wheel chair.(That the only ride I know has that feature). I forget the name of the Hotel ride in HS if you transfer to a seat no problem.

I can go on and on.

As long as you can transfer to a seat the world is there for you.

check description of the ride which are user friendly or semi user friendly with some assistance.

Have a good time.

You will be able to sit next to him on the rides he isn't in his wheelchair. However if he doesn't have upper body balance Soarin would be a ride to skip. Dumbo has an elephant that opens on the side to transfer him in on. Request to load upstairs for Test Track for a level transfer rather than a drop down.

Space Mountain is single seating - people can't sit beside each other at all. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything else that loads that way.
