I have 2 DVC contracts. Can I transfer the points from one contract to my other contract? It'd be like transferring from one DVC member to another. Just thinking if I find some super duper high points wise trip I want to take and am short points, can this be done?
Thanks

If they are totally separate contacts the answer is yes. You can transfer based on the transfer rules just like you were two people. And in a pinch, they will even let you transfer banked or borrowed points to complete the last night. You may be able to take advantage of the system as set up with home resort priority but I wouldn't count on it.

Don't transferred points retain all the restrictions of their origin...so what would be the point of making a transfer to yourself?

If you want to make the highest points wise trip remember the end of your use year is the time start the trip and end it in the next use year...then you can use up to two years worth of points for the start of the trip...then finish the trip using up to the next 2 years' points or a total of 4 years....

One purpose would be to make it possible to combine the points for a reservation.

Example: You want a reservation for 5-nights @ 30 pts/night for 150 points total.

Contract # 1 has 75 points remaining in it. Contract #2 has 75 points remaining in it.

Without combining points, you could only reserve 4 nights: 2 nights for 60 points using contract #1, with 15 points remaining. And 2 nights with contract #2 for 60 points, with 15 points remaining. This in turn gives you two separate reservations for a total of 4 nights, and you also need to link the reservations so you don't have to change rooms.

In other words, you cannot combine the 15 remaining points in contract #1 with the 15 remaining points in Contract #2 to reserve a single 30 point night.

If you transfer the points from one contract to the other, then all 150 points can be used for a single reservation.

If that were indeed true, the only reason to do so would be to get points together for a single night. And in this situation DVC will even allow the transfer of banked or borrowed points. However, no matter what the legal paperwork says, many of the restrictions go away with a transfer currently, especially home resort which assumes the home resort of the destination contract. And frequently use year changes also.

They have been at least since 1999 or so they say. But at some point it will change, I'd prefer it to be sooner rather than later.
