Transferring points question?

Hi everyone! We are owners at AKV, I have 225 points available. In a few days (7month) I am going to change my ressie from AKV to BWV. We want to add one more night but need 14 additional points. The DVC purchase limit is 10, so I cannot go that route.

I was thinking of buying some points on the board and having them transferred. I have never done this but I am assuming it is not too difficult as I see posts for this on the boards. My real question is:

Do I have to buy points from a BWV owner, or since I am a DVC member and under my 7 month window at that point can I technically get any resort points transferred?

purchase limit is "24" so you can go that route. (but if BWV does not have availability, you cannot waitlist with purchased pts.)

since you are under the 7 month window, you could get pts from any resort.

You can also borrow from next use yr to current use yr.

it can be a little challenging as members are only allowed 1 transfer per UY (in or out but not both), so many will not use their their transfer for a small number of points.

also, be aware that if you call MS and tell them you are "buying" pts, they will pitch a fit. while transfers for money are done, it is expressly against DVC contract language to accept compensation for transfers...so don't bring up the money aspect on the phone...

The best option is to borrow the points. After that the next best is to get the room with cash if you can get the same booking category and the member discount or pay for the extra 14 points which you can do in this situation.
