Transferring Points Question

Hi all, I need help! I need more points to book a last minute trip. I've never had points transferred in. If I were to rent points from someone here, how long would it take to show up in my account? Can I use them right away?

I've never personally transferred points, but my understanding is that it is an immediate transaction between the 2 owners and MS and you could use the points immediately following the 3-way call. I don't think there is any kind of waiting period since its a final transaction type thing that can't be undone.
