I know you cannot tranfer borrowed points, but I am wondering if we can transfer banked points?

I was having some fun last night, planning what kind of vacations we can take if I bank. I figured we can book 10 nights in a 2 bedroom at BCV, and 6 nights at Vero in a Beach Cottage, with points to spare!

Well, going to bed with a smile on my face, because that will be one AWESOME vacation, I realized I don't own at Vero, and would have to use the 7 month window.:scared1: I am thinking, there is no way I can get a cottage at 7 months, for the 1st week in July. (this is a couple years away, not this year)

If I could transfer the amount of points to a Vero owner, it would work out. But, the points will be banked points, or most of them would be. Is that something I could do?

Transferred points must be current year points. Cannot be banked or borrowed.

Thanks, that is what I thought. Hmmmm, now what? I guess I can book what is available at the 7 month, and go on a wait list for the cottage, then dream about it, because it may be the closest I come to staying in one! :)

You say you don't own any Vero Beach points. So transferring any of your home resorts points (which are not Vero Beach points) doesn't help anyway.

Transferred points retain their original home resort and use year. Whoever you transferred them to couldn't use them at 11-months anyway. They would still only be good at 7-months, no matter whether you keep them or transfer them to someone else.

Your points do not automatically become 'VB' points just because you transfer them to a VB owner. They retain YOUR home resort.

What you could do, though, is transfer someone else's Vero points into your account or rent from a Vero owner.

Banked or borrowed points cannot be transferred; however, you can bank points later that are transferred. I have done this on several occasions. For safety purposes, I always tried to transfer in points from someone who owned at the same resort that I did and also with the same use year. ( I understand that this may become mandatory in the future to avoid others' morphing of points.)

The points that I did transfer in did not follow the regular banking deadlines of my regular contracts. In other words, if I had a June use year and transferred in points, I was still allowed to bank them after the 25% deadline.

Also, these transferred points did not fall into the quantity limited for banking. For example, if I had already maxed the number for banking, I was told that the transferred points would still be bankable.

I checked this out on three different occasions with MS managers and have done it.

This is a somewhat unrelated question...

If Person A owned 200 points at Vero Beach and Person B owned 200 points at the Beach Club, is it possible for Person A to transfer 100 VB points to Person B, and Person B to transfer 100 BC points to Person A? Like an even swap?

I am new to this...

Thanks!!

But not in one year. You are limited to one transfer in or out each use year.

Deb noted the limitation of not being able to do so in the same use year. Better would be to "rent" from each other by the other making reservations in your name and you doing the reverse. A little more trust but a lot easier in many ways. And you don't have to fool with the manual tracking issues.
