transferring points and Use Year

We have an Aug. UY and are booking a May 2013 stay. We don't have enough points so we are looking at getting points transferred from another Member. Does it matter when their UY is? If so, in what way?

Points need to be available in your account at the time of your stay. Doesn't matter if you banked , borrowed, or transfered them, they need to be available.

Transfered points keep their home resort priority and UY.

Word of caution, MS sometimes has trouble keeping track of transfered points so keep good records. They will not show up in your account or online.

Just to add to the previous, very complete response - if you want to combine them further than 7 months out with your own points they need to be the same Home Resort.

If you happen to find somebody with the same HR and the same UY they will probably appear as a large lump sum of points in your own account - this happened to me and I've seen others say they had the same thing happen. Otherwise, if it is a different UY/Home Resort MS will know the points are there but you will not be able to see it online.

some examples:

someone offers to transfer you feb 2012 UY pts - you can accept the transfer and bank the pts forward to feb 2013 - so those pts would work for a may 2013 stay. (may 2013 is within the feb 2013 UY)

someone offers to transfer you june 2012 pts - you can accept the transfer and those pts would work for a may 2013 stay. (may 2013 is within the june 2012 UY)

someone offers to transfer june 2013 pts - those pts would not work for a may 2013 stay as transferred pts cannot be borrowed.
