Transferring Luggage Split Stay

We are staying at RPR in May but need to switch resorts for our last night because our discounted rate is unavailable for that night. We are currently scheduled to move to Drury Inn but I am now considering moving to Sapphire Falls instead. The big plus to remaining on-site would be if Universal transfers luggage between resorts like Disney does so that we don't have to hire an Uber to get to the resort. I read that they used to move luggage but haven't been since COVID. Does anyone know the current status? If they don't handle luggage right now, I think we will just save the money and stay at Drury.
Thanks for your help!

I believe that even before COVID, the resorts would move luggage from a lower tier to a higher tier resort, but not the other way around. We recently switched from Cabana Bay to Hard Rock, and the Uber arrived in 3 minutes and only cost something like $13, which was higher than usual due to surge pricing.

Thanks so much for your help! :)
Hmmm....Considering we are staying 10 nights at the deluxe resort and just one at the lower cost resort, that seems a little unfair. It's not really the price of the Uber, which I know would be cheap to either SF or DI, but more the convenience. It would be really convenient if Universal would move our luggage while we were at the parks so that we could just take the water taxi back when we were done and not have to worry about the logistics of moving. We really like Drury, but have been there enough times that I was thinking that for convenience sake, we would pay the slightly higher price and forgo the free food/drinks and try one of Universal's lower tier resorts. Not to mention, I heard SF is beautiful and it would be fun to check it out, although my daughter tells me that everyone seems to love Cabana Bay, so maybe we should look there. :confused3 This is Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend, so I know the parks will be crowded and thought exploring a new resort would fill our afternoon.

The truth is, my DH wants to stay at Drury and I am trying to convince him to stay on-site so I am trying to find an angle to use. :ssst:

Keep the Drury Inn reservation. Enjoy the free hot breakfast, dinner, soda fountain and drinks.
We do like Drury and have stayed there a number of times, not only in Florida but also on other trips. I agree that the free food/drinks is an awesome perk! We would be able to take advantage of dinner/drinks but not breakfast because our plane leaves early the next morning.

You can easily walk it. We did the opposite and moved from Cabana Bay to RPR and just pulled our luggage from the one resort to the other. Sapphire Falls is much closer and an easy jaunt even pulling your luggage.
I didn't realize that they were so close to each other! So about a 10 or 15 minute walk maybe?

Yes, we walk between the two hotels often.

You can walk past where Tchoup Chop used to be and walk the whole way from one hotel to the other inside with aircon. You walk through the ballroom and convention areas of both hotels, and leaving RP it takes you to the lobby in Sapphire Falls.

Saves walking all the way in the heat.

Thanks for the replies! It is actually just my husband and myself this trip, so we are going to take your suggestion and just walk our luggage over. The fact that the entire walk would be inside in the AC makes it even better!

I mentioned my daughter up post because we always stay at one of the higher tier resorts for the Express Passes, but she researched all of the levels of resorts for the trip she and her boyfriend just took. They ended up getting an awesome military discount for PB and stayed there, but were first booked at CB.

Thinking about doing this on the way to the parks in July -staying at SF because it’s second closest to Islands and my daughter is convinced that she will melt....good idea or no. Not trying to make the walk longer.

Since you are staying there so many days and the reason you are moving is because of unavailability, you could tell them that and ask them to move the luggage. I would be shocked if they didn't.

You can just take the boat too. Maybe walk one way when it is cool and take the boat back.

I called Royal Pacific Resort about a different issue and asked them about moving luggage while I had them on the phone. The very helpful employee told me that they had a town car that would move people with their luggage to different resorts since they aren't transferring luggage at this time. He said that it usually costs $10 but he put a note in our file that they should move us for free. We do have to accompany our luggage; they won't move it themselves. He didn't say why they are doing it free but probably because we have a long reservation and couldn't extend at that resort because they are booked up. I think that is very generous, but we may still walk our luggage over since it is such a short distance, depending on weather.
Thanks everyone for your help!
