We would like to transfer our Member Contracts to our daughter. Member services sent us a form to comlete, and on there it says Disney will let you know in 30 days whether or not they will waive ROFR. This is a generic form, not specifically transferring withing the family.

Has anyone here transferred to a family member? Did you have to go through ROFR? Thanks!

You do have to go through the ROFR process because a Waiver of ROFR has to be filed by Disney with the Comptroller of Orange County before the new deed can be recorded in your daughter's name. However, since the transfer is a gift to an immediate relative and thus no sales contract is involved (there is no consideration amount for a gift), Disney does not exercise ROFR.

Did you ever think of just adding the name to it? I was told that I can add my daughter as an owner on my contract once the contract is paid. I wouldn't be transferring it to her I would just be adding her to it. They wouldn't let me add her to it when I got it since she had no credit history (she was 18 at the time) and they were going strictly on my credit score. So after 10 years (or sooner which is what I plan) I can then add her.

Adding your Daughter on as a joint tenant will still allow you to share control. Should something happen to you, she takes over and vice versa.

Right now my daughter is an associate on the account until it's paid off then I can add her as a co-owner. She can call and make reservations on her own as of right now, the only thing is is that she's not responsible for any of the cost of it.
