Transferred points when selling?

We have 3 contracts. We are considering selling one. I have 5 points left in current use year that I’ve already paid dues on. Can I transfer to my other contract before I sell, and they will remain with me once it sells?

Yes if you transfer the points prior to the change of ownership you can keep them in another membership.

A little warning though: I’ve received my fair share of transfer and I’ve recently experienced that one of my reservations which used transferred points was sort of messed up points wise. It was as if all the transferred points was gone points was simply not there. It was only a problem since I had to modify it.
I had to call in and the explanation I got was that due to the original contract had been sold after I received the transfer, the link between my transfer and the sender contract had been broken since om the contract no longer exists. Member services had to rebook the reservation to fix it.

What if all the contracts are in the same use year? They probably can’t be transferred to one of your contracts in the same use year then, can they?

Points can only transfer between memberships as contracts can never change size.

This is why DVC has to set up a temporary contract in the other membership to hold them.

That will work only if you have at least two memberships (different UY or/and owners) and can transfer the points from the membership holding the contract you’re going to sell to the other membership. As Sandi says, transfers are between memberships, not between contracts.

Sorry for not being more complete in my answer. As others are saying you can transfer points from a contract in one membership to another membership. If all contracts are under the same membership meaning same UY then you can’t do it.

Excellent. You can transfer those 5 points to one of the other memberships, then list the contract for sale.
