Transfering itunes library to a new computer

We got a new computer and I need to transfer my itunes library to it. Does anyone know how to do this?

The best way to move all of the songs (This doesn't work with videos) is to take a flash drive, select and drag all of your music onto it into a file folder. then put the flash drive in the new computer. select then drag the folder with the music on the drive into your music folder in the new computer. open itunes. then click add folder to library and once you have done that, enjoy

Supposely, you can also use Home Sharing and i think it will share everything between the two computers. But I have no idea how that works.

Also, if you don't have a ton of music like me and a slow cd burner, you can back your entire library up and then download it into your new computer.

For purchases made on your itunes that are on your ipod, you can just hook up your ipod to the new computer and select transfer purchases. For other songs the best thing to do is save the songs to a zip drive and transfer to your new computer.

There is a program you can buy to rip the songs from your iPod to you computer. Just google it, I forget the name.....

Dh just upgraded the harddrive in my desktop and had to transfer my itunes to it. He just did it through the external harddrive that we were using to back our stuff up already, it was quick and easy. You just need to download itunes on the new one and authorize it first and then you'll be good to go.

You can also backup your Itunes to a DVD. This will keep all your playlists and stuff orgainized the way you had them. When you just move it with a flash drive, you will lose all the playlists, and imported album artwork, if you have any, and have to reorganize it.

There is a program you can buy to rip the songs from your iPod to you computer. Just google it, I forget the name.....

I used a program called copy trans to rip my music from my iPod to my new computer. It was I think around $18.00. But it was a God send. I had not been able to update my iPod in months. We had the laptop with my orginal itunes account reformatted and I was afraid I would lose everything. But this progrma is super easy to use.

We did the home sharing with the desktop and the laptop. It worked beautifully nad had no problems. I was amazed at how simple the process was and how quickly it transferred.
