Just wanted to share my recent experience with the transferring of points. My brother transfered points to me recently. He has a VWL August use year and I have an OKW March use year. The points he transfered to me were his current year's points. We did a conference call with MS and the CM we spoke to told us the points, once transferred, would expire the last day of Feb. 2008, my use year. When I questioned her and stated I thought they retained their original use year, she had to go and check. She came back and said I was correct, that they do retain their original use year. I told her I would like to bank these points, she said I could at any time, even though they were past the Aug. banking window. (Which I was pretty sure was the case, but needed to ask.) I could not bank them immediately though, I had to wait about 3 days before I could do this. OK. I called back, banked the transferred points, and the CM I spoke to told me it would take at least 3 days for them to show up in my account and I would then be able to call back and get a banking number. I called back 3 days later and yes they were in my account and now it appears they have morphed into my use year (and no banking number). I e-mailed MS and asked for verification and the response was there is no banking number when banking transferred points because it is done manually and I now have xxx number of points in my March 2008 use year, mine plus the transferred points. What the heck! Okay, it didn't really matter to me what use year they were in, we aren't going to use them for anything in particular any way, but I'm sure for some owners it could be a problem. I guess the moral is make sure you know what the heck is going on, don't count on things going according to the stated policy.
