Hi! My parents have 1 day each left on their park tickets and said we could have them if we wanted them because they say they just aren't Disney people :confused3 , crazy I know!!!!! Anyway, do you know if you can transfer them person to person? I do know they have the no expiration option on the tickets.

Tickets can't be transferred. They are linked by finger scan. Older tickets that weren't linked by the scan could theoretically be used, but they do say "nontransferable" on them; they could be used if your conscience will allow.

You should have no problem using your parents tickets as long as they are the older ones without the finger scan..I wouldnt worry about your conscience on this one IMO - somehow I think the non transferable thing was meant to prevent reselling and this isnt even what you are doing..its silly in my opinion that you would not be able to use your own parents tickets..IMO of course!

Another thing maybe you could contact Disney and explain the situation and that they are your PARENTS for heavens sake and see what they say

I think there should be some method whereby a parent can transfer tickets to an offspring, for instance. Disney can keep a record of this and a ticket can be transferred only once. Maybe sending like a notarized letter to WDW, stating that the ticket belongs to them and they wish to transfer it to so&so.

I know it'll never happen. But something to think about.

I don't think it is just about reselling. It is also about the fact that the days on a multiple day ticket are only a few dollars compared to $65 for a one-day ticket. Tickets have always been non-transferrable and we all get to play by Disney's rules.

The tickets are bought and paid for..if someone else in the FAMILY will get use from them how is that so bad? I understand the big "non transferable" thing and that is why I stated IMO in my previous post. There is no good reason for them to be that way except for money issues or reselling problems.

To let your own kids use tickets YOU paid for shouldnt be something you have to struggle with your conscience about IMO again..I dont see this kind of stipulation on very many kinds of tickets out there

Admission is non-transferable. This is deliberately intended to, in part, preclude guests from passing a pass from person to person, so that two different people can take advantage of the lower price for a longer pass. The finger scan was almost surely extended to include MYW passes because of rampant violations of the non-transferability. While each person should follow their own conscience, if you're planning to violate rules, or have violated rules, I think it would be best to keep that to yourself. If for no other reason, there are children who read this forum, and I feel that children seeing a discussion of adults consciously violating rules is more objectionable than children seeing racy photos (which occurred recently here in the forum).

What bicker said.

Of course it is a money issue-it's Disney's revenue they are protecting. They get to decide how admission is sold.

It doesn't matter if you don't see the stipulation on other tickets although I would suspect it is there in small print somewhere.

Disney gets to set the terms of sale not the buyer. One of the ways they are enforcing these terms is through the biometric scans.

Keep in mind that while Disney gets to set the terms of the sale, we buyers have the ultimate authority, to either accept those terms and make the purchase, or reject those terms and not visit the theme parks.

I have to disagree. The reason the prices get so low after 4 days is based on the assumption that the same person is using them and coming extra days when they might not otherwise. I think of it as a mini-AP. If you bought AP's (which are similar in that after a certain number of days, they effectively become free for any future visits instead of just a couple of dollars for those visits), would you expect them to let anyone else in your family use your AP?

The pricing on the new MYW tickets is much more inline with AP type pricing (designed to give discounts for frequent visitors) than the old 4-6 day park hoppers which decreased slightly in cost by the number of days, but certainly never had any days on them that cost $2!

I have to agree with the rules are rules arguement here. It doesn't matter if it's family or someone on E-Bay. Tickets are non-transferable. Period.

Can you just call Disney with the ticket number and will they tell you how many days are left on them?

My parents came with us for their first trip to WDW in April this year. We were buying an Annual Pass for my husband and a 10 day ticket with non expiry for myself. My parents were only going to be going to the world for 2 days so they used the remaining days on our hoppers from 2002.

I did not feel one teensy bit guilty for doing this as Disney gets plenty of money from me and the remaining days would have gone to waste with my parents having to shell out for 2 x 2day tickets.

I gotta remember that one.

Here's the Public Service Announcement-

DON'T WASTE OUR PRECIOUS TICKET RESOURCES:
Give your remaining days to those in need of a vacation
.

Now, if someone would care to run that by Disney for approval...

I am told that Disney allows transferring of tickets only when the original ticketholder died and many unused days remained on the ticket. This has been done on an individual case by case basis. This is contrary to a published brochure of several years ago that stated "... good for any four days out of the rest of your life ... "

No. You could have used the remaining days yourself, seeing that your bought a 10 day non-expiring pass.

OT: Boston's MBTA (formerly the MTA made famous by the Kingston Trio) is installing a new fare system using magnetic stripe tickets sized similarly to Disney tickets. These aren't cheap paper tickets, they have a plastic layer inside so you can't tear them in half all that easily.

Every time I enter a station I see lots of ticket litter all over the place -- one ride tickets left behind. People haven't gotten used to buying multi-ride tickets.

One thing I did notice. Although tickets can be "recharged", when I do so, the original ticket is kept (presumably in a bin for future discarding) and a brand new ticket is printed.

If these tickets have not been used since the new biometric finger scans have been in place, then I see no problem with the OP using them. WDW may say the tickets are non-transferable, but unless you have not used them with the new finger scans, there is no way for them to prove who used them in the past. So to the OP find out if your parents have went threw the finger scan before. If they have not, then I say use them & not feel guilty despite what others here say about having a guilty free conscience. If they have been used with your parents fingers have been scaned, then it looks like you won't be able to use them & you would need to purchase your own set of tickets, sorry.

Finally to the people who said not to transfer tickets between anyone even family members, who are you to tell the OP or anyone else what to do? Ticket transfering happens all time. Look at all the people selling used Park Hopper Passes on Ebay & all the discount ticket outlets in Orlando. I would say all those tickets they are selling, (the ones at the discount ticket outlets) were from guests who decided to sell them for cash & therefore they are selling used tickets. So basically selling old & used WDW tickets happens everyday & you can't stop the process, eventhough it's wrong.

If it's old and pre finger scan -use them.
The thing that I don't like about the finger scan is that it prevents the ticket holder from giving the ticket away. Almost every time we went to WDW for 20 years or so, we would have days leftover that we would give to a stranger on our way out of the parks. It made us happy to share and it made the recipients very happy. I understand the business end yada yada but come on a few people would get a couple of days on a ticket.

We are telling the OP Disney's RULES AND POLICIES. Who are you to tell the OP or anyone else to violate those rules? It goes both ways.

So, basically you are saying even though it is wrong, go ahead and do it because other people do? I have chosen not to do that but to each their own.

By the way, Disney is attempting to stop "the process" by using the biometric scans.

I have to say I find your post rather hypocritcal since I have seen your posts telling people who park at the Contemporary Resort when they aren't guests there how terrible they are for breaking the rules and using the Contemporary to park for the MK. So, you want everyone to follow the rules when you think it will affect you but don't care when you feel it doesn't?
