Can anyone tell me what the best brand of transfer paper is to buy so I can get good quality looking shirts I want them to look really good because they are going to be so special to my boys. And also where do you purchase it to get the best deal
Thanks so much

oh boy, you'll get as many answers as there are posters who have used them with that question! I've seen folks post mostly about HP & Avery; however, I've also seen others listed on this board such as Wilton (which I never heard of).

Personally, I did more than 60 shirts; 95% of them with HP dark, 10% with HP light, and 5% with Avery light. I ordered the HP dark from hpshopping.com's web site where they have a special "buy 2 get 1 free" deal that includes free "overnight" shipping (as long as you select it). Not sure if the deal is still going on but you might want to check out their web site to see.

Personally, I like HP better than Avery but others have their own preferences as well. The HP dark has a crease down the backing to help get the transfer off the backing which helps a lot and I was pleased with the finished product on the HPs. I like the dark better than the light; however, I do feel there is a [limited] place for light transfers (small breast pocket stuff).

good luck whatever you decide.

Now, let the rest of the opinions commence! :rotfl2:

that use the HP dark and light transfers - they were both super simple if you follow the directions in the package - got them from hpshoppping on a buy one get one free with overnight shipping - look at the thread titled
a big thank you with pictures. I used the light on the canvas bags and white t shirt and the dark on the others. the designs all come out brighter in color after they are ironed on than they appear on the printed transfer. happy crafting.

Ok, I have done a total of two shirts - had some learning curve problems but nothing major. My question is do you use the dark transfers no matter what you are doing or does it really make a difference to use the light and dark transfers?

The dark transfers look nice on anything. I think you'll find most people use them on everything. I do. Just trim the designs for best results. Personally I find the colors look more vibrant and hey hold up better/longer in the wash.

I like the transfer paper from www.printonit.com. It's about a dollar per sheet and I think they have free shipping on orders over $20. It's been a while since I've ordered, though.

Thanks, I need to get busy and get some shirts made up for our trip!

I have been using a product called IronAll dark. It is available from a company called Milford Photo on the internet. I have found it to be excellent, does not crack or peel on washing and does not appear to have faded after a few washes.

A-ha! I just started a new thread about this because I missed this one somehow. We should make this sticky! Or put in in the DISigns FAQ thread or something. I'm sure you guys get tired of answering all of the questions! Thanks for all the ideas. I checked Sam's club today, but they only had Avery light transfers. I wish they had dark b/c their price was good!

Looks like the HP shopping buy 2 get one deal with free shipping is still good. Does thrie paper come with good instructions? Any tips for the newbie tee-shirt person?

I felt the HP dark transfer paper came with adequate instructions. In fact, that's how I built this thread...(which is also my "tip")... :rotfl2:
Tip... see this thread
