transfer from member to member

I have a Febuary use year,DD has a March use year. We both own at SSR. Starting today I will be making our resevation in a GV at SSR for November 2nd 2008 for 7 days.. We tried to transfer her 2008 points into my 2008 account and was told we could not do this until her March 2008 use year comes up. Is this so??????? If not then she would have to make a ressie and then have it linked to mine correct. The only problem is she would have to call by 5pm that day(we are reserving H/C day by day so the room is held until 5pm) and she works at the Hospital and sometimes only has a walking lunch . Do I need to be present for her to link her ressie to mine? If so I guess we could then do this some Thursday or Saturday after the ressie has been completly booked. Does this sound correct. Anyone have any suggestion to simplify this. Thanks Susan

You should be able to transfer her 2008 points into your 2008 Use Year - so I'd call and see if you get a different answer from another CM.

If they still will not allow the transfer then the only other option is to reserve some of the nights from each account (I'd really suggest just borrowing points from 2009 and making it all under one account and then transfer the points in March). Linking the reservations is simple and may be done by either member (again - I suggest having both members call and request the link so it's noted on both reservations) and may even be done weeks later.

Please report back when you have your reservation.

Thanks for the info. I will be using both 2008 and 2009 points for our resevation. I just needed some extra points from DD to get the GV for a week. I will have her call again today to see if she gets a different answer. How long does the point transfer take? If she calls today would they be in my account by Thursday. Thanks Susan

I think they still do these transfers manually, so it may not be an immediate event, but could be done by Thursday.

Another consideration would be for her to add you as an associate member - which would allow you to make reservations using her account. You would not be on her deed, but would have access for reservations. She could later remove you if that is an issue. I don't know how quickly that could happen, but may be nothing more than a call to Member Accounting.

If you are only missing a few points, you can make a single day reservation using her account.

I received a transfer of 2008 points into my account (which will be used in the 09 UY) last September without any problem. I would have your DD call MS again.

Last Spring, I transferred 06 UY points to another member and they confirmed they could use them almost immediately. Best of luck -- Suzanne

Made my first night ressie for November on Monday. I asked MS about DD doing a transfer and she told me that yes it could be done that the previous MS I spoke with was incorrect. DD called and the transfer was done that same day. DD and I are going to look into making each other associate members on each other's membership. Susan

You can do the addition of an associate online on the vacation club website. It is simple and then they will send a confirmation in the mail. I don't know if it is quicker to do it by phone but we did it online with no problem. Good luck with your reservation and hope you have a wonderful time planning your trip and then staying in that GV.

No she did not make any transfer. I guess the first person we spoke with did not know what he was talking about because she called(MS) again after I posted here and was able to do the transfer. Susan

Do not believe this is correct.

It's one transfer per use year so calendar year has nothing to do with it. Even if she made a transfer involving 2007 use year points, she should still be able to do one involving 2008 use year points. You do not have to wait until the use year starts to transfer points.

The OP and her DD want/need 2008 use year points to make the reservation for their November 2008 vacation. Since members can book November 2008 vacations during this month (at a home resort), transfers of 2008 use year points are allowed now, too.
