My son is in a wheelchair and my mother had foot surgery about 4 months ago (bunionectomy...sp) so I am asking her to rent an ECV (off site) what I was wondering is...will we be able to get on one bus? If so will it take FOREVER to get one? My son wears prosthetic legs and is blind...that is why the wheelchair..so we can fold the wheelchair and him walk onto bus. Any suggestion?

What resort are you staying at - that will make a difference because some are busier than others.

We have been coming to WDW for a long time with a child with a wheelchair. It does not happen often that we can't get on because the bus is full. Since you are planning on folding your son's wheelchair, you will have more flexibility - if there is already one wheelchair/ECV on the bus, you should still be able to load the ECV.

At the parks, we usually take our time leaving the park at closing time. That means that the first (heavily loaded) buses will have left and we will get on a much less crowded bus.

Since the driver will already be putting down the lift or ramp, I would probably have your son ride the wheelchair into the bus. Once he is on, he can transfer to a bus seat and then you can fold and hold the wheelchair.

Thank you so much Sue. I really like the idea of transfer on bus. My sons multiple disabbilities make it hard to do steps. Being blind you rely on feeling but with no legs it is hard to feel steps. He can do it but would rather not. So thanks bunches. Oh and we will be at ASMo for MLK we will be there through the week.
