Trampolines/insurance

aaaargh...I really want a trampoline, but I am a rule follower...and too scared to chance it.

Thanks, tho.

We had one for a couple of years in FL when we had Nationwide @ the time(I think). We have another one & our insurance has never questioned us & its never been excluded. We've had 2 insurance companies here.

I don't work in personal insurance so I don't know how common this exclusion is but in most states they would have to give you notice if it was being added to your policy, with a specific number of days notice required by the state.

We are in Texas and used Allstate for the 5 years we had a trampoline. Before we purchased it, we talked to our agent and were told that as long as our yard was fenced, we were fine.

We had State Farm with the trampoline (1200 year) now have Amica with no trampoline(600 year).

I worked for State Farm until a few months ago and they don't care if you have a trampoline, they also don't care what kind of dogs you have as long as it doesn't have a history of biting or has been trained to attack. They are also more expensive for a homeowner's policy than others around here. But this can very easily vary by state. I'm only licensed here in Nebraska.

But most people don't read the fine print. When State Farm changed windshield glass coverage to fall under comprehensive, instead of just being covered 100%, they sent out a notice. Trust me, nobody read it! Ok, probably a few people read it, but I had to explain it a million times over and I was in a small office. Most people just don't read coverage changes from their insurance companies.

My insurance company DOES allow them, but you have to call and tell them if you get one so that they can increase your insurance by $600 a year!
