Trampoline debate ( after the trampoline question)

I think it was more my wife had to have one not the kids theynever asked for it my wife did and since I just went out and spent another 12 grand on a second race bike I said ok. I think it may have an untimely death one night while my wife is at work hehehe.

Yes she was the first one on it today after it was together before she left for work. Why do you ask you seem to be lost as to why she would use the thing?

Well, I don't know many adults who use a trampoline....kinda odd if you ask me, like someone who is living their childhood now. Not saying anything is wrong with your wife doing so...just saying I find it odd.

My sister (who was grown) would jump on the trampoline with me. So did two of my adult aunts.

well, like I said, I don't know anyone and have never seen an adult who has jumped on a trampoline...

Never were into gymnastics were you TIC. julie Yet I am sure they had a blast on there with you when you guys all played on it.

HA HA HA me, in gymnastics?! HA

Okay, I'm just going to say this, and flame me if you want, but, I play real sports thank you very much.

People could say that about adults that go to Disneyworld or ride coaster, etc.

My husband was a trampolinist and still gets on at 54 years old. He still throws the difficult tricks. And you should see some of the looks on the kids' faces when my husband does some of his diving off the high board at the local pools.

I can barely walk and chew gum but I like to just jump for excercise and fun.

I see by your profile that you are 13 years old. You can only hope that you have the athletic ability and energy when you get our age.

Well said phantom and btwTIC what is your real sport you play is it soccer or hockey or football? I think you run isn't it ya that is a real sport much more agility and skill needed for that than gymnastics hehehe

OKAY! I'm just saying I never knew anyone who did it. Sorry to offend those older trampoline jumpers out there.....I'm just a stupid kid, right?

Oh yeah, running...anyone person can just walk on a track or run cross country and just blow everyone away. You don't need to train to be good. You can just eat potatoe chips and drink soda 24/7 and win a gold medal. How did you know?

And also, for your information, I play tennis, basketball, softball, I run track and cross country, I also downhill and cross country ski. I'm sure none of those are physically demanding or remotely hard like gymnastics though, right?

I ski teach tennis and play basketball. As for running ya you train but all you do is run there is not coplicated moves to practice there sorry running is something you do to get around the bases in baseball or to get to the school bus if you are late.

Running is more pyhsically demanding then you'll ever know. I'm sure YOU could run a 4 minute mile anytime, right? And I don't only run. In track, you think you can just waltz over and high jump 4'4 at my age? Or long jump 13'5? No, you can't.

And, you can't just run. If you want to be good, you have to have a good stride. You have different strides for sprinting and long distance...you do have to practice and so you run around the bases...that is very demanding.

My husband ran track, hurdles, and was state champion in pole vault and regional champion in high jump. He also played varsity football and wrestled. He received a full scholarship for both track and gymnastics and he chose gymnastics. Funny, but he thought gymnastics was the most challenging sport. He went on to become an All-American in college gymnastics.

Sorry to highjack the thread. I don't know why I thought it would accomplish something by arguing with the life experiences of a 13 year old. If Talk is Cheap says gymnastics isn't a real sport then who am I to argue with that logic?

Anyway, back to the OP. We've always had a trampoline and no accidents with our 5 kids. I don't think they are for the casual backyard owner though. Our kids have been hurt on our horses but we've always had them also. We do draw the line at ATVs and motorcycles. 4wheelers, go-carts, and motorcycles scare me but others feel comfortable owning them.

Phantom I applaud your hubby that is quite a college career and you were not hijacking the thread it is great to have different input on different subjects for all the people that want to post. Nope but at your age I could yes I ran track and so on in Highschool but found hockey to be a much better sport for me. Anyhow as for the trampoline you know we wouldn't want to get the thread closed for straying off topic. There is nothing wrong with them if you have someone to sit and watch the kids while they use it but since I didn't want it I will not volunteer my time to do this.

At my age you could fun a 4 mile? That's why those 30 something men are doing it  whatever(how do you know I'm not 85, anyway?) :p ;)

back on topic, even if you have someone watching, it's the trampoline that causes the accidents not lack of supervision. I know several kids who have broken there legs because of the way the landed just jumping up and down on a trampoline. Nothing caused that except for the trampoline.

I agree TIC and that is why I will not go out and watch them so I can't say I told you so when and if it happens.
