As much as you want to. I have only seen the conductors unload the train a couple of times when it was crazy busy but you sure can get your train time in.

the train is my dh favorite since he was a kid. Like your GD, he would be happy just riding it all day long and you CAN! If you want.

It's a continuous track that runs the perimeter of the park, making various stops. You will be able to see the Grand Canyon during dinosaur times and present, that was my dh's favorite part.

IT seems that Disney is the only place where it is socially acceptable to wave enthusiastically at random strangers and that's the best while riding the train.

Get on the train in Main Street and take the loop. Or use it,like we do now, as transportation. We save our poor ole aching feet that way ;)

The Lily Bell makes an appearance on real nice days, I hear. I havne't had the pleasure of riding in her....yet!!!

Enjoy the train and most of all enjoy Disneyland!!

The Disneyland Railroad works essentially the same as the one at MK but it has more stops (I believe) and also has a cool Grand Canyon and Dinosaur diarama after the Tomorrowland Stop.

Don't forget to ride on Casey's Junior Train also, which is exclusive to DL!

My grandchildren love that ride!!!

This will probably be one of those "dumb" questions, and I know this is geared towards the younger Mouseketeers, but do many adults ride this as well? We're planning out 2nd trip to DLR--did not ride it our first trip--and as this is not at WDW wanted to give it a try.

Oh yes adults ride that train too. Fun to see them all in the monkeys cage. Our kids (even the oldest) enjoy the train rides. Its a nice break for your feet for a few minutes too.

FYI, as of at least Saturday, the last scene of Primeval World is [still] being refurbed

Have you heard of Walt's Carolwood Railroad? If you're both Disney AND train crazy, and if you'll be spending more time outside of DLR on your trip, you MUST take in the other set of Walt's trains - which are located at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. It's the Los Angeles Live Steamers Museum, the only Disney ride that you don't have to pay for.

Here is the link to the Carolwood Historical Society. And if you happen to be in town on the 3rd Sunday of the month, Walt's Barn is open. It's just the best thing outside of Disneyland!

Yeah - my Dad made us a bit train crazy. ;)

I think the train serves 2 purposes. First being a ride attraction and the other for park transportation. We use it all the time to move between Tomorrowland and the main gates.

Second! The Dobies like to hop on the train for a short cut to Toon Town from NOS!!!!

It's already been said, but YES! You get a fantastic view of the Storybook Land Canals, too. It's worth the ride just for that.

It's perfect transportation to get immediately from front gate to the Princess area. On first day, we rode it once, like it was a "ride". Then we quickly figured out that it really is great transportation to take short cuts and save your feet, plus we could avoid lots of distractions or chances to get separated.

I have two rides that are great for long breaks/naps... Pirates of the Caribbean if I'm in that area of DL and the wait isn't too long and the DL Train, unless it's too cold/windy. I recommend saving the train for the hottest part of the day when you're really tired. Stay on as long as you need! I've never been asked to get off.

Just don't make the mistake of trying to ride the monorail like this. They will make you get off in DTD, and you may have to wait awhile to get back on, depending.

I love this train. Remember it very well from when I was a child. As an adult, I sometimes will ride it several times in a row. I find it to be very relaxing, while also being entertaining.
