Train

Hello all! New to DIS

Any one here driven from Ontario to Virgina and hopped on the Auto train?

It would be about an 8 hour drive from home to Virginia, and then 17 hour train ride. It will probably take the same amount of time if we were to drive ourselves the entire way, but at least we could relax on the train and the kids can move around. We wouldn't have to rent a car, or purchase pricey plane tix so sounds ok? Would love to here from anyone who's done this

I love the train. We did it a few times as it was an affordable way to travel to Florida with less wear and tear on our car and we didn't have to rent a car while down there. The rates for kids are very inexpensive. My kids loved it when they were little.
We've traveled both with and without a roomette. The roomette allowed for a more comfortable sleep but we slept fine in the seats too. I'd definitely would do it again though my husband is quite finicky and he'd rather fly.

Wonderful! I think we may opt for the roomette the first time and scope out the seating first.

My hubby also prefers to fly, but I would rather have both feet on the ground
