A friend of mine said that she takes a train from CT to NY. Does anyone know how long it takes, how much it costs, where in CT to get it from? I want to look it up if anyone knows. I deleted her email address by accident so I can't email her. I will see her tomorrow if no one know but I kind of wanted to do it today. Thank you.

I am probably being really brain dead but it says starting points and ending points only NY places. Where can I put in CT places?

Where are you trying to go to and where are you planning to leave from?

There are a number of trains in CT.

The line most people take into NYC is Metro North. This runs from New Haven, with stations in Milford, Stratford, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Southport, Westport, Darien, Noroton Heights, Stamford, Greenwich (I know there are a few more I'm forgetting) and 125th Street in New York with the last stop being Grand Central Station, which is where most people go to in New York.

But you can get to NY from other places in CT by taking other trains and connecting to New Haven or Bridgeport.

If you give me more info I'd be happy to help you out!

This map might help you out as well, the red line at the Coast of CT shows Metro North New Haven line stations.

You want the Hudson Line when you're looking online.

Be forewarned - many of the train stations are parking strapped. In Fairfield, the day parking is full by 6am. My DH walks to the train every morning, we've been on the waitlist for a parking permit for almost five years.

I think there is much more parking in Westport for day parking.

Try and ride off peak, otherwise you'll be crammed in with the morning/evning commuters. It's not uncommon to be standing the entire trip if you are on a peak train.

My MIL is taking two of my nieces to NYC this weekend, they are from Hanover, MA. They will drive to my house, leave their car here, and then we'll take them to the train. So much easier than driving and parking in the City, esp. if you've never done it before.

Enjoy NYC!
