Train Or Plane

Looking at our dates 2nd of Jan the plane comes in cheaper then the eurostar.

i am wondering though if it is worth risking going by plane. If the weather is bad i am thinking planes would be worst hit.

if however we did go by plane we would be at disney i reckon around 10am. This i gather would be too early for check-in, but can we get the park tickets and go into the parks that early.?

You can check in at the hotel at 10am but the room won't be ready until 3ish, we usually get the Eurostar the day before we check in and stay overnight in the Sante Fe or similar so we can have the full day in the park. You can leave the luggage and they will give you tickets etc., with instructions to pop back to the hotel when the room is ready.

Dependent on the hotel you are staying in this can be a good tactic to get more choice over where the room is! We try and arrive at the hotel at 8:30ish and request a room with a nice view, I usually ask to see on the map where the rooms are so I can pick ;) Sometimes when we have checked in they have given us the room number and key and just tell us to wait until 3, others they ask us to go back to the desk later on.

As for the plane vs train, well it can be a toss up but it may be that any weather issues affecting the Eurostar will likely affect planes whereas the reverse may not be as frequently true. I would always choose the train as it is so much more relaxing, easier and convenient. Sorry if that doesn't help much!

We arrived around 10.00am in july, picked up our park tickets, food vouchers and were given our room key, although we were told the room wouldnt be ready until 3pm. While i was checking in rob dropped the cases off at left luggage, all very easy and quick. Have done the same once before and room was ready for us!

We always fly, eurostar is just too far away really, so cant help on that one.

I'm not particularly fond of flying so I would always go for the train! I find it less hassle than flying anyway. Have you added the cost of transfers onto your flight costs? That might make a difference.

Trains still have their fair share of trouble (one December the train froze on entry to Folkestone and got stuck) but they normally operate well if at a slower speed than usual.
I think you need to factor in transfers from the airport into your price guide, and overnight stay/transport to your chosen Eurostar station before you choose.
True though that planes have more more chance of being grounded in bad snow/fog, and you will also need to factor in parking for both options.

I think both don't get delayed that much and often nowadays. We fly but mainly because at the end of the holiday we have a ten minute journey from Luton airport and we are home!

The only think I didn't like about it last year was we used VEA and the coach was packed with tired kids who were crying loudly (not their fault I know, but I was tired myself and wanted to cry! Lol) however, we're trying RS this year so hopefully will be more quiet (I'm turning into such a grumpy old man!!)

Great thing about the Eurostar was we came out of the park and straight onto the train to sleep all the way home, but then it was a nightmare getting from St Pancras back home!

We always use the Eurostar. We are in Watford, so in reality it's probably quicker for us to get to Luton or Heathrow airport, but for me Eurostar is just the most comfortable and easy way to get there.

We normally stay in a hotel in Kings Cross the night before so we don't have to worry about rush hour tubes in the morning.

I have priced up flying before, but when you factor in the costs of transfers and the like it rarely works out better than Eurostar,
