Train crashes into store building

A line of train cars hit the Buy Rite store on South Main Street about 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The crash threw the store off its brick foundation, causing it to tip dangerously forward toward the street.
The owner of the store, Johnny Martin, said a customer was sitting at a table inside the store when the train cars hit, causing the customer to fall out the front door. The man was airlifted to the hospital.
Martin and two other people inside the store were not hurt, just in shock after the train crash, Martin said.
Chuck Small of the Lancaster Fire Department said one car was carrying plastics, but firefighters checked the cars and found no environmental hazards.
Lancaster Police Department officers were expected to keep watch at the scene Wednesday night to keep people away from the dangerously leaning building.
