We are a family of four (two sons ages 8 & 4) and heading to WDW in Jan. We will be doing to the deluxe dining plan and I have the week all planned out. I have read good reviews of Trails End and booked it in hopes of catching the campfire with Chip and Dale after. Is this worth a trip over to FW? I know the weather can be iffy and could be pretty could. We don't do a lot of park touring at night, mostly sticking to dinner and resort exploration.

Other restaurants we have booked for dinner are:

Kona
Ohana
Cape May
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Citricos (date night/no kids)
Raglan Road

Is there another place we should visit instead of Trails End? :confused3 TIA!

How do you plan on getting there? We drove the last time, and found the parking and shuttles to be a pain. I would take the water ferry next time. We found he buffet at Trails End to be good but not spectacular. We liked it for cheaper OOP price. Not sure I would use a dining credit. Your other choices look great.

If you've seen the menu and like the looks of it, I would keep it. ... as a matter of fact, when we went (08/2009) it was one of our favorite buffets.
I also recommend the boat ride over, (Very nice and calming) and depending where you are staying, a quick visit to the Wilderness Lodge is worth the stop.
... and my spouse and I really liked Kona.

we prefer Whispering Canyons Cafe in the WL for breakfast or dinner and can have family style or order off menu is fun place to go. we take the boat over from MK to WL then could take to FW to see chip n dale as well:dance3:

We have dined at Trail's End.

However, it was for lunch. We had the Fried Green Tomatoes, which I found to be pretty good. However, I wonder if it's worth for you to eat dinner there. I don't know.

The other two restaurants you mentioned are Ragland Road and Kona \which I found in my experience to be fine. 'Ohana - don't get a late reservation, the food may not be quite as good. The other's, we haven't dined at.

Thanks for the replies. We are staying at the Poly and even though we'll have our car, we'll probably take the fairy over there. Does anyone know how far the sing along is from the Trails End restaurant? I am not familiar with the FW area at all.

I highly recommend this!!! The boat ride over is nice and there is a great playground right by trails end for the kids to play. I think the sing along is near the pool and rec area. The internal bus system makes if very easy to get around.
